Went with some coworkers last week for a quick day trip from Chicago. Plenty of options on the menu and we tried/were sent by the kitchen almost the whole menu! Very impressive that every dish was solidly executed, well seasoned and visually appealing! Service was friendly and attentive but could benefit from a little confidence boost with some of the menu descriptions. Wish I didnt have to drive all the way from Chicago to try it again but will be back!
I tried out DanDan for the first time last night with some friends. Had the egg rolls, crab ragoons, and Beef Chow Fun. Excellent! Great atmosphere, service, and even though it is on the pricier end -- it is worth the quality. Highly recommend!
Wow! DanDan prepares some of the best Chinese dishes I've ever had. We have visited Milwaukee several times and now we've found our favorite spot. The food was excellent and the closest comparison I can come up with is Girl and the Goat in Chicago. The DanDan staff is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Can't wait to return!
Decided to go here on a Sunday evening after a MSO performance and waited until the doors opened. We were seated immediately, which was lucky since it wasn't long before the restaurant was full. Our server was quick and friendly, and the food was truly amazing. Our table of 3 shared 2 appetizers, 2 mains, and 1 dessert and were very satisfied. However, we did order an extra bowl of rice since the one served was rather small for us.
The Smashed Cucumbers were served cool with crisp flavors. The black vinegar gave it the perfect tang with a little bit of spice, and the cilantro, well, it's cilantro, so it just makes everything better, in my opinion. The potstickers were good-sized and with well-balanced flavors. The taste of the ribs was evident right away with the foie gras, giving it a nice finish. The Happy Chicken was spicy and so good! If you like spice, I highly recommend it! The DanDan noodles also had a bit of spice, but not overwhelmingly so, and the peanuts (which I'm usually not a fan of in food) added a nice, subtle crunch. As a finish, I highly recommend the cream puffs. Fluffy, creamy, and the right amount of sweetness.
I've heard the service here can be hit or miss, but our server was fast and attentive, and our food came out quickly. NOTE: A 20% tip is added to your bill automatically.
Have been wanting to try DanDan for awhile. Saw they were offering a lunch buffet today and thought it would be a great way to try a variety of their offerings! Everything was delicious, but wasn’t expecting a 20% “service charge” when as a buffet we served ourselves…
Dan-Dan has some outstanding Chinese food. The location, atmosphere and service are all terrific. For apps, we had Crab Rangoon and Pork Dumpling - both delish( sorry no pics- we are them too fast).
Other entrees included Orange Chicken(great flavor), Mongolian Beef(with lots of veggies too), BBB Pork Loin and Noodles, Chicken Fried Rice, General Tso Califlower, and Kung Pao Chicken. Try the Bourbon Hibiscus cocktail for a refreshing (not overpowering) summer drink. Great place - we'll be back!
Appetizers were delicious. I ordered Mongolian Beef. Last one out of 7 to get my meal, but we were warned ahead of time. My issue was that the Mongolian beef lacked the beef. I will eat there again but trying something else.
This place was absolutely amazing, I was alone in Milwaukee and was told to try this restaurant out and I tell you, I was not disappointed. I sat at the bar and the bar tender was really friendly and helped me with order as I was so stuck on what to get. The food itself was ridiculous the chef definitely knows his flavors, and a plus it had a great beer selection. next time I'm in town I'll be back for sure. I had the sesame chicken bao and Mongolian beef
We love DanDan. Vibe is cool, service is professional, and the ingredients are always fresh and adventurous. We come here every year to get their three course duck dinner as it rocks our socks off every time. Unfotunately, in agreement with the other reviews, the food was SALTY salty. Like, I had to pour my water in my duck dumpling soup to eat it salty. The great flavors are still there, but whatever it is, please talk to your chef or culinary support staff about balancing the salt. Your food is totally worth it! We still had a great time and will come back but hope by next time they will have it figured out.
This place exceeded all expectations! The food is FANTASTIC and worth the price. The general tso’s cauliflower is one of the best dishes I have ever had. It was crispy and tender, and it didn’t even taste like cauliflower. The crab rangoons were also some of the best I’ve had. They were absolutely filled to the brim with real crab!
Food is excellent, but the menu is inconsistent. More vegetarian options would be great, but the menu is also a nostalgia riff for the owners combined with a desire to make a few dishes great not a hundred dishes just so-so. Its the kind of place you go for that one dish you love -- or at least I do. Excellent staff. If you take your kids, there's a playground beside the parking lot that isn't half bad. [EsterEv is five stars, though.]
This was our first time here. Our server, Mariah, was very helpful in guiding us through the various menu options. She highly recommended the chicken wings and pork dumplings! Winner! The aromatic spices on the chicken were warm and inviting! There was a little kick; when accompanied with the tasty, thick sauce it made for the perfect, “I’ll have another one” bite!
The dumplings were smooth, silky and filled with flavor! Once again the fragrance of the fresh herbs was incredible!
We also had the shrimp toast and beet salad to round out a very flavorful dining experience!
There is an automatic service charge added to the bill so pay attention to that!
