Period. Point. Blank.... THE FOOD IS GOOOOOOD! This is a family owned business. The owner is super involved in the miami community and she can cook. The location is super convenient right off of the highway. We had the fish, mac & cheese, gumbo, nini bread, fried chicken, juice and sweet tea. Everything was amazing! I love the nini bread. The desserts looked amazing and are all home made by the owner. I wanted the rum cake so bad but there was also banana pudding, red velvet, pound cake and more.

I’ve been hearing and reading but great things about the food here. I live in West Palm Beach and will be making a drive down to give it a try! I can’t wait!!

From out of town but went to the NW167th location. Ordered three plates and the food and presentation was good. No long wait time either. Only downside (reason for 4 stars) was the rice was a little crispy/hard but had good flavor. Lemonade was good too and served in big 24oz cup. Dominique took our order and was sweet and helpful!

Listen. I have a confession. I travel to eat! Point, blank and the period. When I finally got off my plane in Miami, all I wanted was some catfish and grits. With a little help from Google, I found this place. The pictures don't lie, folks! It was a nice little drive from South Beach, but oh so worth it! First, I call. The young lady manning the phones and front was very helpful and kind. She informed me that her restaurant did not have dine-in options, but their other one did. I decided to go here because I really didn't want to sit anywhere and eat. I just wanted to get my food , go back to my hotel to eat and then sleep, because I was exhausted.. She also offered that they were open that day, but closed on Thanksgiving and the Friday following. Very good to know. When I arrived, I found the restaurant in the corner of a shopping center next door to a barbershop. Now, it is small, but it's not a hole in the wall. I would not define it as that. It is a takeout restaurant, totally. What I loved about the place was how they brought in so much black historic memorabilia that made you feel like you were taking a walk down memory lane. The young lady who I spoke with on the phone took my order and offered to call me when my order was ready. I had been sitting on a plane for 5 hours so I was in no rush to sit down. I needed to stand. I waited for my order. It took about 30-40 minutes, which told me that my food was made to order. That made me feel good. I ordered catfish and grits. Since I knew I'd want food later that evening when I got to my hotel, I ordered another meal, as well. I also ordered chicken wings, greens and macaroni and cheese. It is worth noting that the wings are not full wings. They are wingettes. It is also worth noting that the wings come on a bed of rice, which was a pleasant surprise, because I was not expecting that. I prefer to eat my food hot, so as soon as I got into my car I dug in right away. Everything was delicious. My test for determining if something is really good is eating it when it's cold. Later that night when I was in my hotel room I pulled both styrofoam plates out to try everything and it was all just as delicious as it was hot. To me that's the true test. If your fried chicken is just as good cold as it is hot, then you got some good fried chicken. I am a macaroni and cheese connoisseur. No, seriously, I am! I have never tasted macaroni and cheese quite like this. I think they put goat cheese in it. Effed me up. Delicious! The fried chicken was good, but I could tell that they blanch their wings, which means they partially cook them at the top of the day, so when someone orders them, they don't have to cook as long. I usually hate blanched wings, but theirs weren't chewy like most. The collard greens, which are prepared without pork, were also delicious. Now it's worth noting that I never eat greens without hot sauce. Never, ever. When I asked the young lady if they had hot sauce and she told me they didn't, I copped an immediate attitude. I was prepared to knock them down a star when I penned my review. Just for that. My thought: How on God's green earth are you going to be a New-Orleans derived business, and NOT offer folks hot sauce? That makes NO sense! But the spirit said, just try it first. So glad I was obedient. How about this? It didn't even need hot sauce! That's how good their food is, people. The catfish looked like a billboard model. I have never seen OR tasted perfectly fried catfish like this before. The grits were perfectly buttered with the right amount of texture. I cannot stand when you eat grits and they are not the slightest bit gritty! When they are like that, they've been overcooked, something very common in our community. Anywho, not the case here. Also, if grits are just as good cold as they are hot, they're good and their grits are FIRE!! Just go ahead. Do yourself a favor and drive on over there to get you a plate or two or three. You'll thank me later.

I wish I could give 10 stars! This restaurant is the standard. Even when I got home and ate my food cold (yes, don’t judge) it was STILL amazing.

Fried ribs is what I came for as a first time eating fried ribs experience and boy o boy I was NOT-LET-DOWN. 10/10 Candied yams: 8/10 Mac n Cheese: 8/10 Jungle Juice: 10/10 Fried Shrimp: Was fried hard but not too hard so it was still edible so 7.8/10. Strawberry Shortcake: The crunchy top threw me off so I didn’t finish eating it until later in the day but when I did I enjoyed it so 7.5/10. Will be back for those mother loving FRIED RIBS!!!!!!

Just OUTSTANDING! Anyone who says this food isn't the best is flat our lying or has no taste buds! Love Misha and Dolly’s caring hospitality! The food portions are so generous it may take two days to eat it! We went to the opening of the new location in Pembrook Pines and it was a party!! So much to choose from that we ordered everything and on our way back for more with our cousins visiting from NC! Go get you some Babies!!

The environment was very comfortable and inviting. Customer service was delightful. The food was stupendous. Fried lobster tail with shuckin dip was intriguing. The Jivin grilled shrimp and Geechee grits was the best I've tasted. The collard greens where in a class of their own. And the Peach cobbler is highly recommended. Keep up the great work hope to see you open more stores and spread the "Louisiana Love"

The food was decent and flavored well, especially for it to be takeout, which we didn't eat until we got home about 30 minutes later. A bit pricey for the amount given but again the food was pretty good. I purchased the gumbo and the flavor was good, my only critique would be with the consistency of the gumbo. I received plenty of shrimp and chicken but only one piece of sausage, but honestly I'm truly nit picking.

Alright now! I’m Shuckin and Jivin! Well the husband and I found this spot on IG and decided to drive from Ft. Lauderdale to Miami to see what the hype was about. Let me tell you I was pleasantly surprised. This is a hidden gem in the corner or a plaza I probably would have never ever seen. Let me get right to it. Shekinah delivered top notch customer service! Baby girl was giving me such good vibes. She explained everything to us and gave us some must . I myself was indecisive but I settled on the gumbo and fried lobster tail. Flavor! Flavor!Flavor! I absolutely loved the gumbo it had all the things I love seafood, chicken and sausages. The portion size was more that I expected. Don’t let the container it’s in foil you. It’s plenty packed up in there. The lobster tail was fried and crispy and full of wonder flavor. My husband ordered the Jivin chicken wing combo. In his words it was delicious. It felt as if we didn’t even pay for the food. It was comfort for your soul straight from the cookout. He’s convinced someone’s grandma was in the kitchen. Make you wanna shuck n jive every single day! And that Jukin’ Juice was 🔥 🔥. The only thing that would make us juke some more would be if it had alcohol in it. But those drinks didn’t stand a chance. They were all sold out of desserts but next time I will definitely get some. This joint is reasonable price for the level and quality of food. The presentation was on point and we were very excited it eat up. Shuckin & Jivin you have my vote. Let us know when you open up a spot in Ft. Lauderdale and we are there!!!!!
