Cucu's Nest Bar

Love this place! I planned a bachelor party and we stayed at the Palms. I was a little worried that we were kinda far from the action in South Beach but then we found this place! It's super close and couldn't be more perfect! We closed the place down every night we were there...actually we stayed a little later than we were supposed to. The bartender shot pool with us, did some shots with us...actually many shots with us. Friggin awesome

There's really nothing quite like Cucu's in South Beach, an area with so many glamorous clubs, lively party bars, one classic smoky dive (Mac's), and then... Cucu's, which is the singular strip mall dumpy dive. It is devoid of character and personality, super tacky, a genuine sleazy alcoholic's type of dumpy dive, but something about it works. It's the kind of place you'd find in the suburban or rural midwest, yet here it is in this super ritzy nightlife area with Lambos going by. They emphasize their shots which are $5. Naturally the patrons to this kind of place are the weirdos who don't quite fit in anywhere else in south beach, they come here. Right around the corner from the Broken Shaker too, it's refreshing to step out of there and get a breath of fresh air at a lowbrow joint to stay sane around all the half unbuttoned shirts tucked in to khaki shorts at that place. Could totally imagine it closing within the next 5 years, really a weird type of bar for the area.

Very fun spot, you can have any kind of drink you want and meet nice people - locals and tourists
