The Chan Pon is delicious! It's a Nagasaki specialty I did not think I would be able to get in Arizona. Best Tempura Udon I have had outside of Japan. I forgot to take a picture of my tekamaki but the tuna was generous. I'm so glad this restaurant is closer to my house now.
So we walked into this place, and almost didn’t give it a chance, because it seemed like a ghost town, and the decor was not great, but we decided to give it a shot, because the food reviews I had read were fantastic. In short, everyone was completely right about the food. Very good, fresh sushi, light and crispy, tempura, and savory beef. The service was fast as well. Within the first five minutes of eating, we knew we would be coming back again soon to try out more of the menu. I told the elderly Japanese owner that he should play some authentic Japanese music to improve the atmosphere, and he just smiled at me and said that he would sing me a song next time. Made me laugh. I like characters like that.
No frills authentic Japanese food serving rice bowls, noodles, bentos and classic sushi. The gyuniku-don beef rice bowl has wonderful umami flavor. They only have traditional sushi - sashimi, nigiri, or simple rolls along with chirashi bowls. The salmon and tuna nigiri pieces were not tender, but could just be the cut. The gyoza is fried and delicious as is the chicken skewers.
This place is really authentic. I went here today with a friend and he was very impressed. Everything was very tasty. We came for lunch, I have never eaten at a place so quiet in my life.
Yes, try this place! It was so good. The price was not bad and the food was all very delicious.
Takoyaki was perfectly fried, and seasoning was exceptional. Miso Ramen was very tasty; it had a bit too many ingredients. All the ingredients were delicious, but I wanted more broth. The katsu-donburi was the best! Chicken was prefectly cooked w/ onions over rice, so fricken good. I'll be back.
Very good japanese curry with vegetables I got the vegetarian option with my sides, my boyfriend also ordered the nabe-yaki udon. Coming back again to try new entrees. Everything was delicious. Price was very reasonable also tried the mochis strawberry, ube, and espresso we shared and they were kind enough to cut them in half without us asking. Excellent
Came to their previous location 6 years ago with my girlfriend when I first met her because I loved their food so much. 6 years later, we came back and he still had the same smile and service with food that not only tasted great but brought back our memories.
This place will probably be our favorite place to go for food and all the memories.
Thank you to the owners who kept their business going for 10 years I have been visiting and now 6 with my partner.
My family and I have been here since over ten years ago! We started to come back since I moved close by. The food just hits my soul and takes me back to Japan. I am so happy they seem to be having good business. I love to come here and sit back relax and enjoy the food! Everything is amazing, the last time we were there we got the sukiyaki , champon, soba noodles and yakiniku and loved all of it!
Authentic Japanese fare in East Mesa - absolutely worth the drive. Great service! Clean dining room. Delicious! The chicken skewers are divine. Tonkatsu is, too. The Toh Zon Special is a delightful mix of sashimi, tempura, sliced beef, and a chicken skewer over rice. Highly recommended. My brother, who lived in Japan for years, said that the Katsu Curry is the best he has had in the states.
Wheelchair accessible on the ground level.
It is a little place, old fashioned mom/pop cafe. An older Japanese couple. The menu is big and 100% authentic. Everything is cooked at the time you order. Tons of food served. Happily took much home with me.
