Lives up to the hype! Loved this place. The best fried chicken I’ve ever had - crispy skin, perfect tender meat. The fried okra was the best I’ve ever had. The biscuits are incredible- order extra. Service was so friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth a stop.
Saw restaurant on Food Network. Then, a few weeks later, Uncle Lou's had a spot in the concession stand at the game I attended at the Liberty Bowl Stadium & really enjoyed it. A few weeks later had to go to Memphis for a funeral service. After leaving church, drove to restaurant. Because of location, best to go during daylight hours. Asked Cashier what she would recommend? She politely gave some recent accolades of the restaurant & suggested the Chicken Tenderloins & Biscuits . We got the 6 piece Chicken Tenderloins, which comes with 3 Biscuits, 2 sides, & 2 Drinks. For the sides, got Potato Salad & "Honey Mac N' Cheese". Got 3 extra biscuits. Tried Chess Pie.
Food was cooked to order, so food was hot & fresh. You can either order online, in Self-checkout line, or with the Cashier. There were several orders ahead of me, so be prepared for a wait, especially on the weekend. Food was really good. I think the sauce was great, but my wife really is not a sauce person. For future reference, if you don't want sauce, ask can you get it on the side or plain. I really liked the Potato Salad. We didn't realize the Mac N' Cheese was a little sweet and had a little too much pepper but was still good. I normally do not like Chess Pie because it is super sweet, but Uncle Lou's Chess Pie was the best Chess Pie I have ever had because it was not too sweet. I will be returning to Uncle Lou's and can't wait to get extra biscuits.

The parking lot was packed, which was a good sign this may be the spot! I ordered the 4 piece hot wings with Mac/cheese. My wings were absolutely delicious. However, less than fifteen minutes of waiting someone breaks into a tourist car and steals her bag with her passport and everything in it. I saw the whole thing and alerted the patrons because I was sitting by the window. The area is not inviting for people who want to support. People started asking for to go containers. I didn't like the Mac and cheese too sweet. I don't believe Mac and cheese should be sweet.
The chicken was hot and juicy! The sauce is everything. Only complaint is the fries were not hot and a side of sauce cost $1 but I will definitely go back.

We found this gem five years ago when passing through Memphis on a road trip. We had searched up Triple D locations. It was so good we made it a point to stop here on this road trip. Once again Uncle Lou's did not disappoint. I've never had fried chicken this delicious!
If you are in Memphis I highly recommend Uncle Lou's!!!! 😍
One of the best fried chicken in the Memphis area. Affordable and the staff are very friendly. Get it hot, and the chicken will be tossed in their sweet spicy love. Mac and cheese and biscuits are great here as well.
Delicious food. I recommend 100% to try the fried mild chicken 😋. I don’t eat that much spicy so it was perfect
Great food! Guy ate here. I had the Fatboy and tried my GF's mild chicken tenderloins. Both were really good. It is a small place. People were really friendly. Seemed more like a home than a restaurant.
Uncle Lous was hands down the BEST fried chicken we have ever eaten. Everything we tried was wonderful and Uncle Lou himself stopped by to introduce himself and take a photo with the kids. The sweet spicy love is "bussin" per my 12 year old son and I would have to agree. This will certainly be a regular stop on our way through Memphis in the ffuture.
OMGEE!!! We love this place so much! The chicken is the BEST and these sides! Potato salad...mac and cheese...and strawberry shortcake to share for dessert. Not to mention we're star struck with Uncle Lou himself! Such a great guy! As Guy Fieri put it in 2008, if you live with in 300 miles of this place, you should walk here.
