Food/Drinks ordered – FRIED MOZZARELLA CHEESE STICKS (served with marinara sauce) , CHEESE TOTS WITH SCALLIONS, one VEGGIE – WORLD FAMOUS HUEY BURGER with FRIES, one SHRIMP PO-BOY and a few glasses of MIMOSAS.
Overall, it was an amazing experience with everything ordered tasting absolutely delicious! Trust me, for vegetarians like us, it is such a relief to find a good eating joint that offers vegetarian options in Memphis, that are both delectable and satisfying, and Huey’s was able to hit that spot right for us! The FRIED MOZZARELLA CHEESE STICKS were to die for and the CHEESE TOTS were sumptuous. However, the best part was the WORLD FAMOUS HUEY VEGGIE BURGER – juicy, cooked to perfection, and loaded with toppings! SHRIMP PO-BOY (ordered by my Huz) was also super flavorful and cooked right!
Great food, excellent service, vibrant atmosphere and reasonably priced – Huey’s surely looks like a place that “we” would often visit for some good time, great eats and to shoot some “picks”!
Love this place! Always wonderful and consistent. We eat there and order out from there frequently. Great atmosphere, wonderful food, fresh ingredients and lovely service.

Quality not what it used to be. A year ago or so I wrote a reviewing liking this location. We got our usual to go this time (much like other times) and when my husband got home I was incredibly dissapointed. He said they were busy and looked disarrayed but it doesn't give them an excuse for giving us crap. The bartender ignored my husband when he tried to tell them he was there to pick up and saw the order come out and only after our order was sitting there for a while did he finally ask what he was there for. Now that's whatever as long as this pregnant lady gets her food. I eagerly open the box and what do I find? A few sweet potato fries, the avocado smothered on the burger soaking the bun, and no pickle. The bun was falling apart as soon as I tried to pick it up so I ate it with a fork and knife. Even the sauce cup barely had any sauce but enough I guess for the meager portion of fries I got! This makes me sad as we're regulars. That will no longer be true.

West coast burger + sweet potato fries. I have gotten the west coast burger and sweet potato fries every single time I've gone there and my boyfriend has now copied my choice. I'm sure the other burgers are good too but if I have a craving for Huey's, that's what I get. Their onion rings are also good and huge but they are the type that the onion slips straight out of the breading. The lemon box cake thing made me very happy. If you want to go to any Huey's, the midtown location is the one to go to! Don't go to the downtown site. They were really rude both times we stopped by to get a to go order when we were on our bikes.
Best burgers in Memphis. The west coast burger with its avocado is amazing and the Huey's burger is also delicious! For appetizers, you can never go wrong with the spinach and artichoke dip. Great burgers and atmosphere not far from Overton Park, Memphis Zoo. Our sandwiches were so juicy and delicious that we had a difficult time putting them down after the first bite. Reasonably priced.
Best Place Ever. I love this place. I eat here all the time and literally everything on the menu is sooo good. You cant go wrong with eating here
AWESOME Favorite Place. Best place ever. I always order the same thing being buffalo wings and cheese fries with extra cheese. If you have never had the combination, you should try it out. In the past two years, Huey's has been raising the prices on the wings now at almost $9 for 6 wings when it use to be $7 for 8 wings, but I have dealt with that because they are delicious. Although Huey's is a "burger place," I recommend branching out and trying some of their other items.

Returned to Huey's. We've eaten at Huey's on several occasions & usually find the food & service really good. My hubby ordered the Cheese Burger with krispy onions & 57 sauce. He felt the bun was a bit stale & dry and the burger was good, but not great that night. Just an average burger for the price. But he's a HUGE fan of the Chili & Tamales plate.
I had the French Dip which was tasty, on a french roll with plenty of meat & melted Swiss Cheese. It came with au jus which was also good. I ordered a side of fries too. I am not a big french fry lover, but these were really great. Big, fat, hot and big steak house fries. I didn't want to share with hubby. Thumbs UP on both items.
Our dinner companion ordered the nachos. That was a HUGE portion and she said they were awesome. They certainly had curb appeal when they arrived at the table. And the portion was so much even with sharing there was some still leftover. A huge THUMBS UP on that item.
Our server was a guy and he was SUPER. Friendly, attentive & efficient. However we noticed something odd. There was a young lady on her way to the restroom that lost her footing and fell right behind the bar stools. None of the Huey's staff even made an effort to help her up or check to see if she was ok. And there were at least 4 close by. Instead 2 patrons helped her to her feet and she looked shaken up a bit. It was just odd no one offered a hand.
But we like Huey's midtown the best of ALL the Huey's. Parking is an issue downtown but seems worth the effort for such a neat place in Memphis.
Old Favorite. Never have had a bad experience at Huey's, and we've been eating there pretty much since it's been open.
The chile & tamales are my usual dish. Tasty, with lots of chile and cheese. They're better with added onions, when I remember to ask for them.
One thing I've always appreciated is their policy of leaving a carafe of water, soda, whatever you're drinking, on the table.
Excellent late dinner. Loved the delicious homemade vegetable soup. Really enjoyed the grilled salmon with seasoned veggies: broccoli, carrots, zucchini and squash. Hit the spot.

Had a late dinner here Monday night. I started off with an order of their homemade red beans n rice. It was the best I've ever eaten. Loved the tender juicy slices of smoked sausage. They added a lot of flavor. By the time I finished eating the red beans n rice, I could hardly eat the Huey Burger on toasted Texas Toast sitting in front of me. I waited a few minutes, then devoured it slowly. I love their burgers. Some of the best in Memphis. It was hot, juicy and tender. Needless to say, I left Huey's satisfied, but overstuffed. It felt like I had a brick in my gut. My fault. But it was worth it.
Our bartender was great and he was our waiter too. However there were other waitresses there that were non stop talking about different people in the building..customers, other workers, the band..it was distracting. The food was super good though even with the sweet potato fries being cold, still excellent. Will try this place again for the food and the atmosphere of the place. The bartender was cool too.
A typical southern style, casual hamburger place. It’s very popular, and often is crowded. We went for lunch and luckily got table within just five minutes. They have their own parking, but that’s not big. We started with friend pickle. My life motto is, any fried stuff is tasty. So yum! Moving on in the next course I ordered the bluff city burger with sweet potato fries. The burger was good with cheese, onion straws and medium rare patty inside. It’s quite huge for me. However, the sweet potato fries were not the best. I felt it was a bit underscored. Overall, very cool place. Good point is, they are open until quite late night.
My youngest had a promotion ceremony to celebrate completing elementary school, and wanted to eat lunch with his family after. So we decided to go to Huey's. During lunch, Huey's is a seat yourself environment with the staff greeting you as soon as you walk in the door. Our server was nice and prompt with drink refills. I had the philly cheese steak and it was okay. I actually prefer the chicken philly between the two through. Someone else had the salmon and vegetables plate and thoroughly enjoyed it. Overall it was a good experience.
I loved everything about this quirky little joint, from the excellent service to the piping hot food. Our server, Megan, was not only efficient and skilled, but also witty and added delight to our meal. My Madison Ave burger was cooked just the way I wanted it and it was juicy and delicious. I have to say tho, that for this party of 6, the chicken wings stole the show. They were crisp and juicy, with just a hint of buffalo, and we were almost fighting for the last one. The housemade ranch is creamy and light and just a treat to dip almost anything in.
Huey’s is known for its beer, burgers and for the guitar picks on the ceiling.
Customers used to throw the pics up to the ceiling so they would stick to it. Unfortunately this tradition stopped during the pandemic and it has been discontinued just to be on the safe side (insurance and all).
We came to the midtown location because the downtown location was packed. Midtown was busy also.
We had the bluff city burger and the sunshine burger. Bluff city comes with bacon, onion straws, BBQ sauce on a Kaiser roll while the sunshine burger comes with mushrooms and has an over medium fried egg with bacon.
As sides we got French fries and the tater tots.
Service, even though the place was busy, was friendly. Our waitress was knowledgeable and brought our food out in a timely manner.
I can see myself going back to try the other burgers.
Nice place to grab a bite! We had lunch on our visit. Staff was friendly and the food was yummy!! We started with chips and queso and they were delish! My husband had the fish and chips and he was pleased, I had chicken and pineapple kabobs with sweet potato fries. I wasn’t crazy about the kabobs, but I loved the fries! Give this place a try!
Must visit joint when in Memphis. Our bartender was friendly and our burger/sandwich were full of flavor. Don’t skip on the drinks and fries!
So good! My husband said it was the best food he’s ever had. The service was amazing too, the waiter even put special care in taking care of our toddler, checking if he needed to bring out her entree when it was ready instead of waiting. The food was worth the stop and the service was 5 stars! Get the sweet potato fries! I’ll be thinking about those for a while!
Service was outstanding. The burgers was pretty good for late night. Only four stars because the order was wrong.
Great local hamburger joint. They know how to cook them properly... medium. I had the Old Tyme A1 burger and it was delicious. My wife had the fish and chips and thought it was some of the best since our visit to London. Onion rings are huge!! We ordered them as a side (4 rings) for an appetizer, and were glad we didn't get the appetizer (8 rings) size. We wouldn't have been able to eat our entrees. The place was full when we arrived around 1pm so we sat at the bar. Bartender Robert was cool, been there 27 years. Fun to chat with, and helped us make a choice of one of the local beers. Sorry, no photos of the entrees, as we chowed down too quickly. It's a great place and you should definitely check it out.
