My favorite place in town because of how unpretentious the food and the atmosphere is. I always feel like I’m in a movie about an old, truly authentic Chinese restaurant. I’m a Vietnamese and pretty picky about Chinese food because sometimes they’re too oily or sweet, but Wahkee always makes me happy. Food is fresh and it feels like you’re eating at your Chinese parents’ home (if you had one). Big menu. GO GET DIMSUM HERE! Best dimsum in town. Right amount of spices. Great price for lunch special. Idk why it’s pretty empty but I guess that’s one of the reasons I like it.
Their noodles are amazing and they make them in house. Everything is fabulous. Can't go wrong with any noodle dish but there's lots of other stuff including more traditional Chinese food especially on the chefs special section of the menu. All of it is amazing.
Whatever you get, add some turnip cakes and yao choy for appetizers.
Was looking around for some good noodle places saw this place had decent reviews and decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did. The ingredients are great quality and absolutely delicious. Most of the time I order take out Asian food and the meat is fatty or low quality but this was perfect cuts beef. The cabbage was fresh. The homemade noodles were incredible. And they delivered super fast. Can't wait to try out more from them!
The food here is always great and the atmosphere is very casual and comfortable. It's my favorite go to for pad thai and general tso chicken. The food always arrives fast and fresh to our table. Once they learn your order there, you'll never need to tell them again. They just verify that you'd like that again. I really do enjoy the food here and don't mind going out of my way to go downtown to get it.
This place is great for both the adventurous and the play-it-safe types.
My first impression as I walked in was... okay. The place didn't seem very nice, but honestly those types of places can often be some of the best.
Ordering food was not too fun because the menu was a book, but I asked the waitress her recommendations, and she helped out a lot. I ordered the Ho-Fen with Fish Ball Soup (I like to be adventurous), my wife ordered the teriyaki chicken (she does not like to be adventurous) and we ordered an appetizer of pot stickers.
The pot stickers the best I ever had. They were made from scratch and about twice the size as the frozen ones most people are used to.
The fish ball soup was so good. The broth had a great non-fishy umami flavor, the noodles were delicious and made from scratch, and the fish balls were good. I ate only have and saved the rest for later. For the rest of the day I kept day dreaming of eating the rest of my soup.
My wife's teriyaki chicken was very good as well. It had tons of mushrooms which I love and the sauce was tasty.
In all the experience was great. I will definitely be coming back. I work a couple blocks away. It's been a day since I ate there, and I already tried going back for lunch. As I went to make an online order, I come to find they are closed on Mondays 😭. I guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow!
This is a great place to go to in the winter. They have the best noodle soup in town. All of the oriental students eat here so it is a good sign that is both good and authentic. I order extra noodles with mine. The best thing to eat on a cold day if you are downtown.
