My husband and I enjoyed lunch here yesterday for the first time. We had the house made salami as an appetizer. I'll admit, I'm reluctant to order salami because it can be too spicy, salty or oily for my taste. Wow, this salami was anything but that. The meat was fresh and perfectly seasoned and not oily at all. I had the chicken liver sandwich (trust me) on house made pita bread. The sauteed livers were tender and moist, the sautéed onions and mushrooms were a great topping on the sandwich. I chose to forego the rice or fries as my side dish, instead choosing the shopska salad for a $2 upcharge. This salad of peppers, cucumbers, onions, grated cheese and a vinaigrette-type dressing has become my favorite marinated salad EVER. Every ingredient was fresh, bright, perfectly cut and mixed for a delightful lighter side dish option. My husband had the kebabche with fries (although he actually ordered rice ). The kebabche meat was juicy and tender and perfectly seasoned. The fries appeared to be frozen, but who cares. We decided to treat ourselves with piece of Napoleon cake to split after our waitress suggested it...oh my goodness. That cake was amazing! Several pastry-like layers, with a vanilla cream sauce, caramel sauce added and whipped cream was surprisingly light. The atmosphere is homey, with lots of Bulgarian-themed art to peak your interest even more. Give this place a try.
Cute little Bulgarian cafe in the heart of Fern Creek! I was surprised to learn the menu is very Bulgarian inspired. I had a chicken Gyro and it was absolutely delicious! My sweetie had the marinated pork chop and it was tender and very flavorful! He said his French fries were the best he has ever had! Exceptionally clean, super friendly staff, excellent prices and delicious food!! We will be back!
