Visiting from put of town- came in at lunch and was a bit nervous, as I was the only one in the restaurant. Odered the Kentucky roll and spicy tuna. When the food came, all the nervousness left! It is delicious! All I can say is where are the people??? If I come back to Louisville, I will come back to eat.
Side note - the rap music was a bit odd for the atmosphere, but I am guessing that is not the norm? The f bombs being dropped in the music were the only reason I couldn't rate this as a 5...
I was visibly cold in the restaurant- jacket on, rubbing my arms. The manager turned down the air and brought me a cup of hot tea and I hadn't said anything to her. I appreciated the attentiveness.
The rolls were tasty, well made and not bigger than one bite, a pet peeve I have of other places. It was our first visit and we will return.
This place was really good, in the holistic sense. Sushi was good, atmosphere was really good, service...

Fantastic! I came in late, one Far East roll, octopus sashimi and free bowl of miso soup later, (and a Sapporo) I'm leaving very happy!
I've eaten a lot of sushi but.... This place has some of the best I've ever had. If I lived in town Asahi would probably collect more of my paycheck than I would! Get the tempura fried ice cream too, you'll thank me.
Every time I go here the service is outstanding. The restaurant is always trying new rolls but also offers classic one too. I have been going to this sushi restaraunt for over 3 years now and have never had a bad roll. Also they have the best fried rice in town! I cannot say enough good things about this place.
Great Sushi. I've been here a few times and I consider it one of the better sushi joints in town. At least top three. The atmosphere was nice and clean, didn't feel cramped. Parking wasn't bad, sushi was fresh and excellent. Definitely try this place if you get the chance!

WOW!!!. I'm always on the lookout for a good sushi place and this place is outstanding! In a word FRESH!. Sushi was so fresh, firm, and had no fishy odor. Best place in town from what I've found so far.
I love this place! I go here pretty often nearly every week! Very convenient . I’m not one to write reviews but I had to. I’m a regular and the sushi here is amazing. I generally talk to the chefs regularly. It’s not that expensive nor a long wait time. I love there miso and mushroom soup as well! I can reccomend spicy crab for quantity and cheap. Pink lady is a bigger sushi and it’s really good. If you go there often enough they might make you the house special which isn’t even on the menu! I’ve come to be a big fan of sushi because of this place. Great service. The only time I would say it was poor service was because I think the waiter forget to get my card lol. But other then that I can only speak highly of this place!
The sushi is top notch and I’ve found my new favorite place in Louisville! They have Albacore! No other place here has that. Service was great and food was fresh. Will be back!!
My husband loves Sushi so every couple of months we try out a new place. Definitely understand the high ratings for this place. The atmosphere is very cozy and romantic for a date night but also casual enough to go to with family or a friend. The staff is nice, informative and attentive. Lastly, the sushi here is top notch. An absolute must for authentic japanese cuisine. My husband said it's one of the best he ever had. For reference he got a spicy California roll and their specialty popcorn lobster roll. 🔥
What a great find! We had great service and really good sushi. If you are in town and want sushi this is the place.
The tuna lovers roll was very good. We had 5 other rolls, but not sure what they were since I did not order them. They were all very good. The bill for six rolls and four large beers was only $135 before tip, so very reasonable price. Highly recommend this place for sushi.

Sushi in the heart of Saint Matthews, it is worth knowing. The food is very good and the service is knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Family friendly.
Asahi has changed for the better and is worth the trip.

Everything was really good. Nothing was a standout great place, but everything from service to food was ver solid. This was my first time there and it was so consistently good across all aspects that it's likely to become a regular hangout. We were there at 8:00pm on a Sunday, they close at 9:00. All tables had just turned over and were still full. They also had a nonstop stream of carryout all the way up to closing time. And they still managed to pull off a fairly flawless execution.
Great little sushi place, went with my wife for Valentine's Day and loved it. They were pretty busy but still managed to get our order and have our food out quick. Recommended, and I will be back.
