Best diner in canoga park. Workers are nice and the food is great. One of our favorites "chilaquiles Verdes with steak".

Having heard some nice things about Nat's West Cafe on Yelp (primarily that it was cheap and a good breakfast spot), I decided to give it a go on a Thursday morning.

Star 1: How was the service and atmosphere?

You know those Diner's on television or in movies where the main character is greeted with a smiling face and presented their standard order before even sitting down? Those places are awesome, and as it turns out? Nat's West really is one of those places. Although it was my first time, Nat's brilliant staff welcomed me as though I were family, and the entire experience left a positive taste in my mouth. Is it fancy? No. Is it in one of the more luxurious parts of LA? Double No, but Nat's is a classic local diner with a dedicated clientele and fast and friendly service that really does make it worth the trip. Star Granted.

Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost?

While I'd heard murmurs of ridiculously low prices, I must say I was a bit surprised to find that my Breakfast Burrito turned out to be $8.50. $8.50? and that's before tax and tip? Yikes, sorry Nat's, but there are loads of local places where I can get a good breakfast burrito of comparable size for waaay cheaper than that.

No Star Granted.

Stars 3 and 4: How was the food?

Wow. I've said it before and I'll say it again: a breakfast burrito is unique in that while it's really, really hard to screw up, it's equally difficult to really bring the heat and dish up something spectacular. At Nat's? They really do dish up something spectacular. On top of being hefty, my breakfast burrito was stuffed full of all sorts of goodies ranging from ham to potatoes and loads of cheese (potatoes in the burrito! thank god!) On top of all that, the cherry on the cake really was Nat's absolutely brilliant salsa that they included, which had just the kick I needed to spice things up. While it may not be the cheapest, Nat's dishes up one of the best breakfast burritos in the area. Dual Stars Granted.

Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could?

While it's not necessarily a bargain, Nat's West Cafe dishes up great-tasting food in a homely environment partnered with spectacular service. What more could you ask for? Star Granted.

Nat's is known for their sausages I love to get the Louisiana Sausage and a side of biscuits and gravy...and I tell you it's great! Today it was the Nat's Special Tuna sandwich with egg, tomato, and bacon.

The food was really delicious. The French toast were the best I've had, so far. I would definitely come back just for the French toast.

This place has some pretty yummy breakfast, though it is a little pricey. I also had the tuna melt here, and it was okay, but it was also super expensive. It was a good spot to stop and get some breakfast.

Your All American Style Diner. Whenever I’m craving diner style food, this is my go to place. Service is quick and attentive, even when it’s busy. After all these years, this place has been a gem in the heart of the West Valley

I love the breakfast from this place. I usually call in for pick up orders while working. Food is always ready by the time I come to pick it up. I would highly recommend this place.

Nat’s West is the sequel to the beloved Sherman Oaks breakfast joint Nat’s Early Bite where you can get basic breakfast goods and coffee, done about as perfectly as you could hope for. Would Nat’s West live up to the quality we’d come to expect from their sibling in the east? For the most part yes! We headed to Nat’s West late one Sunday morning where we were greeted with the familiar crowds waiting to get seated. That’s a good sign, especially at a breakfast place. It didn’t take all that long for them to find room for us and pretty soon the coffee arrived. This was probably my only disappointing part about the experience. The other location (and I’m not sure if they’re actually connected anymore) does coffee exactly right, very bold, never thin tasting. The roast I got here was on the thin side. Acceptable, but not the “wow this is great coffee” level that I’m hoping for. It got much better from there. I had two eggs (whites) scrambled with cheddar cheese and a side of perfectly cooked hash browns. It’s a basic breakfast fantasy and they did it perfectly…hash browns crispy on the outside, and fully cooked and soft on the inside. The egg whites were perfect too. I also had what they call a carrot muffin (though fans of the other location will know it as the Morning Glory Muffin…this leads me to believe these 2 locations don’t talk anymore.) The muffin tasted similar but was slightly overbooked…a little denser than I wanted it. Two other folks in the party got the Special Green Omelet with home fried potatoes. The omelet was full of greens, topped with avocado and yummy…and the home fried potatoes were also done just as perfectly as the hash browns I got. Our kid got the Bananas Foster French Toast which also was done perfectly and tasted pretty sinfully good. Nat’s is probably the best basic breakfast place in the west valley and if we lived closer we’d spend a lot more time there…especially if they gave a more consistent bold coffee to me.
