Puran’s restaurant is an institution of the Los Feliz neighborhood; it proposes a Californian cuisine with middle eastern and European influences. The dishes are always prepared with care, using high quality ingredients, often organic. Monday and Tuesday supper specials are recommended.
Really impressed with my first visit for dinner. I’ve avoided going here a few times for brunch and dinner due to a full dining room. Got in for an early dinner mid week and glad I did. Good menu with some unexpected non Italian options. Attentive staff and most importantly got a couple good pasta dishes from their nice big open kitchen.
This place was super great! Just moved to the neighborhood and really wanted to try and we are happy we did!! The 3 course meal for $15 was VERY GOOD! And the bottle of wine for $12 was a quality tasting wine. Unexpected for that price but atmosphere was relaxed and my European girlfriend felt like she was back in Europe :) We will be back!
4.25 Stars with room to grow!
The menu is so diverse, you immediately think that this place is trying too hard. But when we found out it’s been there over 15 years our concerns past.
My girls had the Artichoke and House Spicy Pasta. Both were giving solid 4.5 stars and would go back to eat that again recommendations!! I had the Peppercorn Steak over fries and that was a 4.25 star experience. (Awesome fries!!)
I’d give the steak a better score if the sauce was not so heavily poured and sweet. The flavor steals the dish taste being so overbearing.
We all felt the table bread was stale and the Pear Salad was average. Mostly because the Organics were warm and a bit wilted. The pear was nice, but factor in that the dish was $17 set a higher expectation. 3 Stars.
We are not the best beer and wine people so come check that out for yourself. Several tables ordered bottles of wine and they seemed very happy with their selections.
Service is very good. We are planning to come back and expand on the variety the menu offers.
Enjoy!!
I dine here few times a year not because of its proximity to my residence, but for the fact that I was never disappointed with their food and service. The food is mostly organic the portions in your plate are just right: you will not leave anything behind yet feel full. The service is exceptionally friendly. Even though sometimes I don't go there for extended period of time, the waiter remembers exactly what I always order: crispy calamari appetizer to start with, the salmon on basmati rice with a side order of thinly cut fries. Hot pieces of home made bread and a dip is served immediately after the menu is brought to your table. Even when it is raining, I always sit outside.
We had a great meal, great service and a great time at this restaurant. We had the Filet Mignon salad appetizer and it was delicious. I had an Angus burger that was perfectly cooked. Don't miss an opportunity to dine here.
