Unusual dishes prepared excellently. A favorite.
Great service until I was asked to move to accommodate. As an economist, I believe in there ain't no such as a free lunch. As long as I keep ordering food and/or drinks, I shouldn't be asked to move without at least a free cocktail. If i take over one hour to drink my cocktail, it's fair enough but given that my bill was over $100, it's not like I was sipping on one drink with one appetizer because I am cheap. This being said, cocktails, food, and pie are great. I highly recommend the place.
One of the best restaurants LA has to offer. Creative and amazingly quality food that's ever changing along with a knockout drink menu. We come back as often as we can and it never gets old.

Had the greatest meal here back in December. Delicious pate, crazy good pork belly, delicious frog legs, and the star of the show: a PBJ cocktail. Too bad they don’t serve it anymore because it’s truly one of the best drinks I’ve ever had.
Very good, very attentive. We had a bigger party so we pre ordered everything. Loved the hamachi- but pretty much all the dishes were good. Get the drinks! Loved my fruity cocktails.

Such an amazing dinner! Everything we tried was delicious and while very different, the flavors of each dish worked both separately and together. Loved the hamachi and the duck confit.
Delightful small plates combined with a list of creative cocktails made for a delicious evening.
Each course was amazing. The staff was friendly and inviting. We will be making the trip back to Ktown to enjoy HLAY again soon.

HLAY has immediately become one of my favorite restaurants! This place has a quirky, eclectic vibe with creative food and drinks to match!
Every dish we tried was excellent, and even the bread was memorable. I recommend the Uni panna cotta, which was an absolutely unique flavor. Other highlights include the chicken liver mousse, the steak tartare, strachiatella, and the shaved ice dessert.
I am already planning to return here to try the other half of the menu.
My favorite restaurant in Los Angeles. Three of my all time favorite “there was life before this dish and after this dish” dishes are from HLAY. The frozen pear soda espuma, the tomatoes, and uni panna cotta (holy moly x2000.)
The menu changes often and some favorites disappear and reappear. Everything is wonderful.

Simply stunning experience. Every meal and cocktail is a balanced masterpiece, and the service is expert. Elliot made our meal flow perfectly with memorable recommendations and graceful patience with our pickiness on wine temperature. Highly recommend, will be telling all my friends and coming back!
