Got here around 515 on a weekend to beat the dinner rush or it can get quite crowded. Validated parking lot right in front very convenient. Indoor and covered patio seating. The service was friendly and excellent, and they bussed dishes quickly inbetween courses. I would definitely recommend one of the tasting course options, very reasonable price for top quality sushi. Nice list of wine and sake for pairing. They will only seat you if your whole party is present. Would definitely come back here again.
The Good: Service is fairly quick, servers are young and hard working good for you guys. The fish quality is decent tho aint gonn lie is good. Something about the rice temperature is proper and the tuna and so on.
The Bad: Why cold edamame mane? That is bizarre maybe I am ignorant but I never had brought COLD edamame and I visited this place few times, it is just not nice, again maybe I am tripping, please Japanese folks educate me.
Bonus: They bring you tap water and the crab rolls are delicious like kazu nori.
This is an easy 5/5 establishment. Outstanding sushi for a very reasonable price. There is no better value in Los Angeles. Anyone who rates this less than 5 star is not to be trusted! Prompt service, and tip is included which is nice. Very cozy atmosphere.
Living in the Midwest, whenever we're on the coast, the go-to is always seafood. We got a local recommendation and ordered Sugarfish delivered (yes, I know). It was absolutely the freshest, best prepared, and most delicious sushi we've ever eaten. It's as if we have been living a sushi lie all our lives. Sugarfish sets the bar for sushi and deserves 10 stars. Good thing we don't live in LA, we would easily be on an autoship program. Thanks for a memorable experience!
Sugarfish never lets you down. The Japanese yellow fish is extraordinary! The sushi boxes are really awesome too, especially on delivery!
If you can't decide what kind of sushi you want, come to Sugarfish because their menu is straightforward. You can select from their Prix Fix menu: Trust Me, The Nozawa Trust Me, Trust Me Lite or Don't Think, just Eat, Trust Me.
It was lunch time. The parking lot was packed and the restaurant LOUD and crowded at 1pm.
It was difficult to have a conversation across the table. This is why I'm giving only 4 stars.
Sushi and food: 5 star and beyond! Melt in your mouth sushi.
If you do park in the lot, first 90 minutes are free with validation. There is a back parking too.
We left around 2pm and there were plenty of tables and it was not as noisy loud. So if you arrive off hours, I would recommend it.
Lunch is served until 3:30pm, then it's Dinner service.
My wife and I took my niece out to lunch just now and I have to add a quick review because our experience was awesome. First off, the people are great - the manager Sang made us feel right at home and gave us excellent service. The sushi is priced right, super fresh, and they do not accept tips - it's included. The salmon nigiri is our favorite of any sushi restaurant anywhere at any price - anyhow, you probably know all this - Sugarfish is known for its quality and price. I just wanted to chime in and say something nice.
The great thing about Sugarfish is that you know exactly what to expect and the quality is good. Came here for an early dinner prior to a show at the Geffen Theater with my family and made a reservation online in advance. For 5pm on a Sunday, the restaurant was still pretty busy although we did get seated immediately. Validated parking is available but there’s also some metered spots in front if you prefer. Indoor and outdoor tables available. Get the “Trust Me” - it’s a solid option and you’ll be pleasantly satisfied (not stuffed).
An excellent overall experience. Fairly priced. Good quality fish. Prepared simply. The sushi rice was a bit too quick to fall apart, making eating sushi pieces a bit hard. Remember to flip the piece fish side down to avoid losing the rice! Decor is good but a little dated and.. Well... Boring. No place that serves as focal point.
I got the Trust Me delivered. The fish portions are generous and very fresh.
This was the first time dining (delivered) but I've heard about Sugarfish for years. I've been eating 🍣 since I was 12 and I'm a grandmother now and this is some of the best I've had (not including my trip to Japan which I ate my way through)
The take out box is very cleaver.
I'll be back.
