My sefl and kids Love going to this place. The ambient is very friendly, staff are awesome and polite, best customer service ever.... reasonable prices and good food....
Have been going to Carney's for many years and the Red Barron is the best thing on the menu - the red canbage is to die for - nothing better - thanks John and Bill
The food was good--what you would expect from a place like this. Nothing stellar, but satisfying. We all had burgers of some form and they were tasty. Fries were great. The setting is a little different and enjoyable. It was minutes away from our hotel, and we were happy with the prices and location.
I went along to ask if they could cope with a group of 32 at 9pm, all at once. No problem, was the answer. It looked cute to be on the train carriage, but there are absolutely no frills. I had a chilli burger, fries (which came unsalted, excellent) and a drink for little over 10USD. I thought this was excellent value. We sat outside in the heat of the evening. Efficient and value service for our group only a stone's throw from the hotel.
Lovely!
My first time eating here and the Chicagoan dog and fries were very nice! Not too busy and chilled. The old train car is a nice touch and not too cramped. Would come back again!
Lots of options. Made fresh. Good quality hot dogs. Also it's just plain cool eating in an old train off the strip.
Chili burgers that make me miss LA. Carney's burgers are made in front of you... but really nice people with nice and fresh ingredients. however the best part is the chili they add on top. make sure you get the chili on the burgers, the fries, really on anything you can get a hold of. it makes everything magic.
Carney's Hot Dog / chili, mustard, tomato, onion - 5 🌟!
Chicagoan / mustard, relish, onions - 5 🌟!
I love the Sunset Blvd location for Carney's, and I knew about the Studio City location but had never been before. There is no real reason for that, but I was in the area to take my cat to a vet visit. I decided it was the perfect time to stop by and see what this location was like.
It is just as great as their Sunset spot. They seem to have more space to spread out, but like the other location, the main feature is their rail car design, which gives the entire experience a fun visual element. I opted for their patio seating and enjoyed watching the Ventura Blvd travelers going by.
I have a standard order for Carney's, a Carney dog for the chili, and a Chicagoan for no chili. I love the thick slices of tomatoes mixed with the chili, and the mustard mixed with relish is amazing on the other. They have a bigger menu that includes sides, hamburgers, and other sandwiches.
Great spot with a cool vibe and awesome food.
My first time here but the creativity of using a train as a restaurant captivated me more, when you have small children this is unbelievably beautiful...the food is fresh and delicious, the banana shake you must try is the best, friendly staff, clean and not very expensive.
Climb aboard John and Pat Wolfe's Union Pacific dining car, parked at it's Ventura Boulevard station, and experience some of the best dogs or burgers you've had in a very long time.
Pulitzer-prize-winning, LA restaurant critic Jonathan Gold's "List of 99 Essential Los Angeles Eateries" praises CARNEY'S RESTAURANT
Since 1981, their Studio City dining car menu has included all beef hot dogs, burgers, and french fries, as well as, in recent years, vegan and turkey burgers, salads, and chill. Gluten-free hamburger and hot dogs buns are available. (If you're a celiac patient, ask them to clean the grill.) The serving of French fries, cooked to order in gluten free oil, is generous. (I ask for extra crisp.) No onion rings or other fried vegetables are available.
The staff is efficient but not talkative.
Prices are moderate and the proportions are large.
Napkins are replaced with paper towels from dispensers located at either end of the dining car.
Be sure to pump ketchup from the self-serve dispenser. (Paper and plastic dipping cups are located to the left of the dispenser.)
I ordered a vegan, well-done, Hungry Planet Burger, which came loaded with lettuce, tomato, chopped onions, ketchup, and pickle slices. It is huge and surprisingly good. The large order of well-done, unsalted fries is enough for two or three. (Packets of salt are offered.)
Since this is a real train car and caboose, to enter, there are many stairs to climb. They added a long, fairly steep ramp for wheelchair accessibility. The multi-level patio is not wheelchair accessible.
Seating is available both inside the car and on the multi-level patio. However, you order and pick up your meal, from the counter, inside the car.
Because Carney's is popular, and the order taking is one customer at a time, expect a delay. If you're with a party have someone look for an empty table. The "passengers" fill the tables inside, but the umbrella protected patio is generally available.
GrubHub deliveries are available.
Parking is wheelchair accessible and free. The bathrooms, located in the attached caboose, are ADA accessible. All aboard!
A decent burger and hotdog place. Very nice atmosphere in the train compartment.
Hop on the train and enjoy!
The 'chilly" burgers are definitely good and it's a must try item. They have pretty interesting creations of hot dog and good shakes to keep it fun.
Very close to a 5 for food but not quite there yet. Bit pricey but it could just be the inflation right?
Overall this place is a great stop alone or with family. Kids will always get a kick out of eating 'on' a train. Service is awesome, make sure to tip the hard working ladies and thank the man on the hot grill. They will definitely appreciate you and make their day worth while.
If you're going here, get the chili cheese fries. INDULGE!!! You won't be disappointed. Inside and outside dining. Great parking lot. Places gets busy but workers are fast and the food is worth it. Fun, cool spot to hang out with friends, grab some good food and enjoy your afternoon!!
Another American classic.
Very fresh with premium ingredients.
Chili burger and hot dog are very popular.
Owner Bill is a hands on
guy. Very friendly staff and made to order hot and quickly.
Love the train!!
This is the go to late night spot off Ventura if you want some greasy American food. don’t let that scare you away. it’s everything that you would hope for and prices are pretty fair for being American food in LA
Such an awesome place to grab delicious food. I had never had a hot date that snapped when you bite it... I mean i could hear it too. Better than Tommy's in my opinion. If you're in the area gotta try it
I've seen these trains my whole life but never had a chance to stop by. Amazing chilli burger, amazing fries, amazing dogs. Plus you're in a train. Choo-choo. 7 stars
