I've been going to Carlitos Gardels for the last 16 years, ever since my 30th birthday... it is a great place for authentic Argentinean cuisine and homestyle environment. Every dish has it's own exquisite flavor and yet it takes you to a different place in your mind. As a food lover and critic of my own favorite restaurants, I have to admit this is one if my long time favorite places. If you like Morcilla, you'll fall in love after this dish.
I'm very pleased. Great food and wine (and beer). The off the menu lamb I had was probably the best I have ever had. I'm not sure why someone would rate the food less than 4 stars, probably competition or cheap people who want high grade Angus beef for the price of McDonald's burgers. Waiter "looks" snobby but provides excellent service. Owner is very engaged with customers.
Overall... the food is excellent $20-40 is a bit pricy but is clear that the quality is great and portions are pretty big. I would recommend highly.
Superb food, refined ambiance with a touch of old world grace, impressive service, and a matchless collection of Argentinean wines. We wanted to get up from our table and tango.
AMAZING!
I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to everyone. It is honestly one of the best restaurants in LA if you are looking for a special night out with the most insane food and service without any pretentious vibes. It has been family owned for years, and the family is all so sweet. Their maître D, Brian, is wonderful from his hospitality to his menu recommendations. Every time we go back he remembers that my fiancé is lactose intolerant without us having to say anything. They are very accommodating.
Everything from the empanadas to the desserts are homemade in house, and you can truly taste the quality of all the food here. Which brings me to my suggestions on what you should order: First and foremost, their PRIME RIB EYE CAP!! Do yourself a favor and order this as your entrée. It is melt in your mouth perfection. You won't find this glorious cut of meat at many other restaurants, it is very unique to Carlitos Gradel. Another standout dish/appetizer is the Belgian Endive Salad with Grilled Shrimp in their chimichurri dressing...Also try an empanada! Honestly I can go on and on about how good this place is. Even the warm bread they give you when you first sit is irresistible. They have Lamb on their specials almost every night. I don't even like lamb and it is so so good. I also ordered their salmon special one night and it was amazing. You really can't go wrong with anything here! Enjoy!
Delicious steak. Cooked perfectly. The service was very pleasant and helpful when it came to choice of wine and my mild food allergy. Only wish I lived closer for a romantic candlelit evening with my husband.
The food was excellent and the service was amazing! Our server was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, specials and the wine list and his recommendations turned out to be great. He was also very friendly and carried on a pleasant conversation. I really dont think you can fo wrong with anything thats on the menu. The meal was just as good as when I travelled to Argentina. I will DEFINITELY be going back!
The chicken with Fruits.. OMG..... talk about a burst of flavors in your mouth, this Chicken with fruits {written in spanish on the menu) was to die FOR.... it is a must try and very delicious. The prices are a little steep but I think it was well worth it Try It.
This restaraunt was not cheap, I think it's says < $10 per entre NOT! However, despite a slightly snobish attitude from the wait staff, the food was actually really good! Definately recommend...bring ur steak appetite and ur wallet!
I visited Carlitos Gardel Argentine Steakhouse with four friends to celebrate a birthday, and it was an experience to remember! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance set the stage for a special evening - dimly lit, cozy, and just perfect for celebrating those special moments.
Our waiter, Carter, was exceptional. He attended to our every need with a smile and made sure our evening was flawless. And let's not forget about Max, the sommelier, whose expertise in wine selection added an extra touch of class to our dining experience.
Now, the food! We started with 'Papas Fritas Proveçal' - crispy and seasoned just right. The 'Burrata San Daniele' was a delight, especially the prosciutto - it was my favorite. But the real star for me was the 'Champignon Rellenos'. The combination of chorizo, eggplant, and truffled bread crumbs, topped with white truffle buttercream, was simply perfection.
For our main course, we shared the 'Parrillada Argentina' - a magnificent selection of five different types of meats. It's a great choice, especially if you're sampling appetizers. We also tried the 'Tapa De Ojo' - a medium prime ribeye cooked to absolute perfection.
The service was outstanding throughout our meal, making our celebration even more special. I can't recommend Carlitos Gardel Argentine Steakhouse enough. It's a must-visit for anyone looking for a delightful dining experience with friends or family. Can't wait to go back!
Amazing food, cooked to perfection as others have raved before! Service is phenomenal! So impressed, valet parking, great atmosphere, fun upbeat music, food and dessert’s amazing!
The evening started with a personal welcome at the door and got better! The ambiance was inviting, the amount of light was perfect, and the service very attentive. The appetizers were great and the portions just right. The food was excellent, and the desserts were absolute perfection!
Definitely get the garlic fries, and you can't go wrong with one of the steaks or a special of the day fish!
This place has one of the best and cleanest chimichurries I’ve had. We started off with gnocchi with truffle - delicious but not astounding. My steak was the Entraña, was was SO JUICY and TENDER. It tasted like Wagyu. My boyfriend got the Churrasco de Asadode Tira. It wasn’t as tender as Entraña but still very tender and good. I personally liked the Churrasco better because Entraña was too tender for me - it was hard to finish it because of how oily it was. (But I’m not a big Wagyu fan bc it’s more oily). Our sides were spinach and creamed corn. Ended the night with banana gelato and dulce de leche gelato.
Atmosphere/vibes: dark, romantic, live accordian music playing. (Patio is more romantic)
Parking: street or valet
Service: great, detailed, fast
This place was an incredibly atmospheric dining venue, what with the candles/lighting and the live piano accordion music. The service was friendly and hospitable, and the food tasted great. The staff cut the steak right at the table, which was awesome. Everything was wonderful. I'm not normally one for fine dining, but the place didn't feel too stuffy to me, so the atmosphere was just right. I went as part of a business dinner, but this would probably be a fantastic formal date spot. The staff will take care of you for sure.
Keeping this part from my initial post, I want to apologize on behalf of my group for keeping your restaurant staff so late past closing. I understand how much this inconveniences you, and I would give you all ten stars if I could. You all did wonderfully, and I couldn't have asked for better service. Thank you all so much.
Most excellent Restaurant!!! The steaks were just amazing so tender, juicy and tasty. This is the first place that got all of orders with various temperatures done perfectly. The empeñadas, Caesar salad and pasta dishes were also truly outstanding.
The service was amazing as well, every one from the hostess, waiters, bus boys managers were super friendly and professional.
We had quite an enjoyable and memorable dinner.
Highly recommend!
Carlitos Gardel is a true gem for Argentinian cuisine. The mouth-watering steaks, cooked to perfection, and the rich selection of Argentinian wines never disappoint. The intimate, old-world ambiance, coupled with exceptional service, makes for a memorable dining experience. This is a must-visit for all food lovers.
The staff were very nice and courteous. The food was really tasty. I definitely recommend. Parking in front of the restaurant might be hard to find. They offer valet but if you go to the street you can find free parking in front of the houses.
Unassuming from the outside, this cozy place has a well-earned Michelin star! Everyday is house-made and Delicious. We had several items off the specials list and were very happy - spinach ricotta gnocchi with creamy truffle sauce and the deconstructed Caesar salad. My husband got the rib-eye and said it was one of the better ones he'd had recently. The mascarpone cheesecake was amazing!
Best steak house in LA. Great service and people. Delicious food and great atmosphere. Very recommended.
