Been coming here for about a year now and I haven't had a bad experience yet. Catfish is great, yams, mac and cheese, red beans and rice. Rice and gravy tastes great and I am not usually a fan of rice and gravy.

So five members of our Curry family had lunch. It was all of our first time coming to eat at SFR in Long Beach. The owner and team treated us like family. Five had fish, amazing and 2 had ox tails, awesome.
Just moved down from Texas and was looking for some good Southern cooking. I happened to be in the neighborhood and decided to try this place. I was a bit doubtful about a restauran in california knowing anything about southern soul cooking. I ordered Smothered Ox tails with Red beans and Rice and my fríen had the smothered chicken and both we're amaizing. If you're looking for great soul food I highly recommend this place. A bit price but very well worth it in taste and the amount of food they give you.
My boyfriend and I have wanted to try this place for at least a year and we finally got around to it. There was a decent amount of seating inside and parking is sufficient enough for a Friday night. Service was decent too.
I ordered the BBQ Chicken with rice and gravy, yams, baked beans, and potato salad. My boyfriend had the Hungry Man combo (smothered oxtails and smothered ribs) with rice and gravy, mac and cheese, and cornbread stuffing. Everything we ordered was pretty good, particularly the cornbread dressing (probably some of the best I've had). I could do without the rice and gravy and there were a couple items like the mac and cheese, beans, and yams that I've had better elsewhere. My boyfriend thought the oxtails and ribs were really good.
All in all, it was a good place but just a bit pricey in comparison to other Soul Food places I've been to. I would come back though if I'm craving Soul Food.
