The service has always been friendly and very accommodating I have been twice now and both times the waiter has been excellent and the food absolutely delicious along with the light jazz and low lighting making the atmosphere as actractive as the food. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a great Italian dinner.
Whenever I'm at home I always like to recommend different places to my husband who is from St. Louis, home of the infamous "The Hill". An area known around the world for the best Italian food. We searched for a great steak house, but I remembered the best kept hideaway I had the pleasure of experiencing with a close friend while home visiting over 20yrs ago, Giuseppe's; we were both pleasantly pleased.
Giuseppe's has been one of our favorite restaurants in Lexington for years, and even catered our wedding! Although not as perfect as it used to be, it still offers an upscale, relaxing atmosphere, and delicious Italian classics. Reservations are recommended, and parking is usually an issue, but we love Giuseppe's location (tucked into a side street right before Brannon Crossing), which is just far enough removed from Nicholasville Road to offer some peace and quiet. The exterior and interior are somewhat dated, but in our opinion, that adds to the charm.
We most recently ate here with some friends, and had great service, and a wonderful pace to our meal. For appetizers, we ordered the Arancini (fried risotto balls stuffed with prosciutto and Fontina cheese) and the Mozzarella Impanata (Mozzarella cheese, lightly breaded and fried, and served with marinara), neither of which disappointed. The salads were fresh, and the Pasta E Fagioli (Northern white bean soup with tomato, basil and garlic) is one of the best soups in Lexington.
For entrees, I ordered the Chicken Saltimboca (stuffed with prosciutto ham and Provolone, and served with a Marsala wine and sage sauce) - two hearty pieces of chicken on top of perfectly cooked pasta. My wife ordered the Chicken Americano (fettucine tossed with sautéed prosciutto ham and bacon in Alfredo sauce), which, in her opinion, was average at best. She described the entree as too greasy and heavy.
For dessert, we ordered premium coffee, the Lemon Italian Cream Cake with raspberry drizzle and the Chocolate Lava Cake. The desserts are well executed, and really counterbalance the heavier entrees that comprise most of Giuseppe's menu. Overall, another positive experience!
I went on a Monday night and I was very impressed. Even on a Monday this place is packed to the brim. I would highly suggest calling for a reservation. The service is top-notch and the food is just as good. This restaurant is on the nicer side of the spectrum, average cost per person will be around $30 and it is worth every penny. 100% recommend.
My husband and I just went to Giuseppe's for our anniversary and were very happy with the experience. I ordered the Tortellini di Simpson which I thought was fabulous. He had the Veal Parmigiana and equally raved. There's a great atmosphere and our server was very attentive. The only downside is the cost, but I would have to say the quality of food really was worth it. Since we were celebrating our anniversary they gave us a complimentary dessert, which was a great added touch. I'd also like to mention that in many restaurants I find that Ravioli and Tortellini dishes are lacking in quantity, but I had more than enough and brought about half home. I think Giuseppe's will certainly be on our list of special occasion establishments.
Awesome!. Great service, excellent food! Wait staff couldn't have been more helpful! They were very accommodating when I had a special request for a particular sauce on my pasta. Compliments to the chef!
Great food! You really cannot go wrong. The live jazz is fantastic, ask to be seated in their "lounge" area!
The best - smoothest - LIT I've ever had. Just superb!
It's a little ghetto for the prices but its good. Managers and employees need to step it up - YOU'RE UPSCALE PEOPLE!! For gods sake get new chairs.
Nice place. A little pricey but the food was good.
The Best. I have eaten Italian all over the world and have never had better than Giueseppe's. I have had seafood and steak, and by the way their steak is also the best. Do yourself a favor and try this place. Bar atmosphere is special and music is delightful. Thanks so much Giueseppe's.
Dreaming of grilled salmon. We had dinner at Giuseppe's after our son's graduation and everyone had a great meal. My salmon was seasoned and cooked perfectly (very rare, just like I asked for). Others in our party were equally satisfied with their choices (lobster ravioli, grilled seabass, manicotti and spicy shrimp and pasta). Our server was very attentive, even offered a special dessert for our graduate on the house. Loved the quiet, live jazz soloist.
