Authentic food. This is the real deal. Being from Texas where they have large grocery stores dedicated to the Hispanic culture and cooking, this store and restaurant is a true diamond in East Tennessee for anyone who cooks and enjoys this style of culinary eats. The portions were very plentiful for the price and you never be upset about handmand tortillas. Plus they provide you three different salsas, chopped onion, and cilantro. Everyone is friendly, Very nice store, and excellent customer service.
We stopped into La Lupita for breakfast today. We ordered homemade guacamole and Huevos ala Mexicana. Tortillas are homemade and SO delicious! We also loved the home cooked beans that came with breakfast. I took off one star because we couldn't find any water to purchase and because the Huevos ala Mexicana was 80 percent tomato and onion. Usually this dish is 80 percent egg and the remaining 20 percent onion, jalapeno, and tomato. Yeah, I'm a "gringa" but my Mexican boyfriend and I have been together for 11 years. I can whip up a mean Huevos Ala Mexicana myself. In all fairness the people working here were not Mexican so they might need more practice. 10 stars for the beans and tortillas. Customer service was good too
You can purchase imported items in the store. They had things like Japanese peanuts, to habanero sauce, to tortilla makers. See photo below. This Mexican store is the most expensive of all I've been to in Tennessee. You can find Mexican markets in Maryville, Sweetwater, Athens, Cleveland, and Knoxville with lower prices.
Excellent I love this location more then the one on Maryville they are really kind and work out with us some tortillas something that the other location just make I big issue about great food and a lot of variety!!!
