Update:
We came back today. We had the 2 for $24. My husband had some Retro tacos with tortillas and salsa with a soda, and I had the Baha burrito with tortillas and salsa with a soda. It also came with tortillas and Queso. The Queso was soooo delicious and addictive that we ordered another queso. The waitress put some Pico de Gallo on the Queso. This is the second time we came here and will be coming back for sure. The food was fresh both times and the service friendly. Just thinking about the Queso makes me want to go back tomorrow, lol...
A month ago:
It's Cali-Mex, not Tex-Mex or Mexican. Good food. Good prices. It has a bar and specials for each day of the week. Today was taco day. For 7.95 I had Retro Taco chicken, salsa and nachos and a soft drink. The chicken was a little on the dry side but good. The salsa was yummy. They had Pacifico on tap.
Had the carnita as well as the beef tacos. I'm from Texas so my standards are pretty high. I was pleasantly surprised. The pico de gallo and salsa were fresh and that's a big deal. I did miss the beans & rice that would have justified the price a bit. I'll go back
Best Cali-Mex I've had in a long time. Street food like it was served on the streets of Los Angeles. Pacifico on tap. We'll definitely be back.
Our party of four came in an hour before closing on Memorial Day weekend. Place was very clean albeit nearly empty. We asked if it was okay to order in with our drinks. No problem. Cali Mex style not to be confused with Mexican infusion food was delivered to table within minutes. Super friendly wait staff. Our plates were hot & fresh. Generous brands of hot sauce on tables. Would recommend.
The tacos were really good and authentic, but, I wouldn't recommend the sides. The salsa tastes like marinara, the chips were dry and bland, and the street corn was basically just corn with butter and seasoning on top. The tacos were amazing though. So if you go just load up on tacos.
I passed this restaurant on my way down Strawberry Plains for the first time, and thought it sounded interesting. On my way back, I decided to stop in and order their Jalapeño Brisket Quessadilla to-go. It sounded unique and I wanted to give it a try. It was worth it 100%. Best Quessadilla I've ever had. The Brisket was full of flavor, and the Mango Habanero sauce complimented it exquisitely! This is a place I plan on returning to in the future, and I highly recommend it to anyone in the area!
