New China has changed hands more than a couple of times over the past year. My husband and I were faithful customers of the original owners and have given each new owner a chance. We called yesterday to find out that the menu/owner had changed once again since ordering from a month ago. We gave it a shot going in blind and ordered a new dish, Curry Basil Rice Noodles w Shrimp to share, along w egg rolls and crab rangoon. It included soup, to which I ordered wonton. The soup I received was more of a chicken broth w/sliced white chicken, water chestnuts, and green onion. It came with crispy noodles, which after seeing the newest menu (that I'm posting), they consider the crispy noodles "crunchy wontons". So a heads up there. The price has gone up from what you may be used to, but the food was very fresh, hot, and good and the menu has some cool new items. The curry noodles were a hit, especially not knowing what to expect.. The portion was also very generous. Give them another shot if you haven't been in in a while.
Good prices, just don't be in a hurry. This is a good place to go if you have a small group and want decent, well priced food. We were a group of four and went on a Saturday evening. It was kinda busy but the place is small so there's only so many people you can fit in at a time. We were brought menus and forks and they took our drink order. Drinks came out two at a time. Hubby ordered egg rolls (they were listed on the menu as coming as a pair) and fried wontons and one other person in our party ordered an egg roll. We got two egg rolls, one for each person who ordered, instead of three and the fried wontons came out several minutes later. The same happened with the entrees, two at a time. It's kind of awkward when your friends who invited you there are waiting on their food while you have yours in front of you. They both ordered beef with broccoli and swear it's the best ever. They lived nearby several years ago and still make the drive here just to get it. Hubby got Kung Pao beef and I had my go-to Cashew Chicken. The food was good. They don't load you down with a bunch of unnecessary vegetables and mushrooms like a lot of places do. They give you A LOT for the price too. I ended up taking home half my entree and our friends took home almost a full meal from their two as well. Overall, it's not bad. We'd stop again if we were in the area, provided we're ready to talk because the wait times could get awkward if you don't have anything to pass the time.
Not the best food, but good for the price. It is a small place that has been there for a long time. There are higher quality places in town, but its a good little hole-in-the-wall kind of place.
Food this good is a steal at these prices. You would be a fool if you went anywhere else. One pint alone can fill two people, and they get as low as like $4.25. Just had it for the first time absolutely couldn't believe it.
Amazing Chinese Food!!! Absolutely the BEST in Knoxville!!
This is a really good "hole in the wall" Chinese restaurant. They have been in the Norwood community since the 1980's and they have stayed open because their food is good! Their wonton soup is the best in Knoxville, hands down! Their prices are fair and the staff is nice. I love the interior of this place. It has the 80's feel to it, which is somewhat nostalgic for me. Try them out!
I love this place. Food is delicious, though I wouldn't recommend getting shrimp always a little overcooked. Reasonably priced, the people are always very nice. As far as take out goes, I've never eaten in the restaurant and have always done take out over the past 4 years. I always order 30 min in advance and have never had any issues with my order or the timing.
It's a hidden gem. You can't judge a book by its cover and that's exactly the best way to describe this restaurant. It's a little "iffy" looking from outside but it's very clean on the inside. The staff are always nice. The prices are great and the food is amazing! No joke, if you love Chinese food you need to try this place. Been going for a couple years and it's never let me down.
Seriously the best Chinese I've ever had! Everything is always so fresh and the eggrolls are delicious! I really love the atmosphere too. You can tell they take great care in making their restaurant a welcoming place.
