The ambience is rich but not pretentious. It is warm and inviting with a pampered feel. The food was incredible. The gnocchi was perfectly soft in an extraordinary red sauce. The pasta with duck confit was very tasty. The favorite of the night was a pasta with Benton’s bacon and a poached egg on top. All of us cleaned our plates. The house wine was delicious and with a small party the carafe is a reasonably priced option. The desserts were satisfying without being overly sweet. This was an amazing first visit and we will be back. My picky 5 year old rarely eats spaghetti and even then only a bite or two, he ate the entire bowl before the rest of us could finish ours. That is the best review of all!!! Killian was our server and was so attentive, interacted with our kids, but gave us service without interruptions and was skillful in the proper way and which sides to refill beverages and place and remove plates. These may sound like trivial things, but make a huge impression!
Emilia is a bona fide Italian restaurant more in line with a typical osteria that you will find in Italian cities-casual, with a simple menu and good local ingredients. You might be disappointed if you are looking for American Italian food here.
Like their sister restaurant Knox Mason, the dishes are simple, understated and very well crafted. This method allows the superbly sourced ingredients to shine. The lightly dressed baby arugula salad with shaved fennel was a real delight. The squid ink pasta with uni butter is as good as any you will find in Venice. Likewise I would bet that you will not find better Amatriciana in Rome. I appreciate the simple little details like a chilled salad plate. With a well-trained and well-informed wait staff, this is what a proper restaurant should be like.
