This is the only Ramen shop in KC that I would recommend. I’ve had many different types of Ramen in Japan, this is the only place that comes close. Hand made noodles, delicious meat, great broth, and the owner is a super nice guy. Highly recommended.
Great, friendly service with amazing noodles! I believe I ate a beet. I hate beets. They made a beet I liked. Apparently, now, I am a beet eater. Wonderful place to eat and chat with nice people.
We finally found a place that delivered an okonomiyaki closer to our possibly unattainable expectations!! The ramen broth was not excessively salty, and the pork was fall apart tender. I had no issue with the noodles. The egg preparation was an interesting contrast to the 6 minute egg. The atmosphere was very relaxed, which was perfect for slurping noodles :) We'll definitely be back!
Please note: you are seated and the server takes your order at the table, but you pay at the front at the end of the meal. My only "would recommend" comment would be to fill the diner in on the flow as the meal winds down. The atmosphere became even more relaxed near close and we didn't see a server for a while. We lingered, unsure of how the check was handled, without anyone readily available to ask without interrupting a conversation. As our last dish was cleared, though, we were directed. The meal was so satisfying that I couldn't get too worked up.
We had the Dan Dan noodles, Tan Tan dipping noodles and the Shio Ramen noodles. Everything was fantastic! My favorite was the Tan Tan noodles. The dipping broth had such bold flavors and just the right amount of heat. The Dan Dan noodles were also very flavorful and had a bit more heat, we had the medium heat level. While the Shio Ramen was very good, it didn't have the bold flavors of either the Tan Tan or Dan Dan noodle.
I would highly recommend you try this place out. Fantastic food and wonderful customer service.
Nice little ramen shop at the heart of Uptown. The noodles are top notch, chewy and fresh - just the way I like it. The pork was well prepared, but the chicken may be a hint dry. The egg was not sweetened, though acceptable for sure. It was better than expected for fusion restaurants, and I find myself liking it more than other restaurants of similar genre. Will recommend.
Authentic and interesting perspectives being offered in this unassuming building. This is a place where real food is being done and a person can feel at home here. I loved the place, the staff is amazing, the food is delicious.

This is by far my favorite ramen shop in KC. I've lived in SF and Vegas and there is no shortage of good ramen there, but when it comes to KC the choices are very limited. Ive had the Shio and the Khao Soi Men and both are spectacular. First of all, sit at the bar and hopefully you will be lucky enough to witness the owner making the Ramen noodles in front of you. Their pork belly is amazing. The khao soi men has a very unique and perfect blend between Thai curry and ramen. The atmosphere is cozy and hip. Fast and friendly and reasonably priced. I am a true fan!
Excellent presentation, but the broth was lacking flavor. The noodles were a little on the firm side, but good.
Shio conjured up many memories of eating at quaint ramen bars in Tokyo.
Looking forward to trying a new dish next time.
It’s a amazing small tuck away ramen shop. Had Japanese’s pancakes that tasted great but when it came to the ramen it didn’t amazed me. Yes it was a nice fresh ramen but it doesn’t taste like other ramens I have gotten at that price. Maybe it was lower quality of food. Another thing that got me is I love soft boiled eggs that come in ramens. There eggs jus dissolved in the ramen. Adding flavour but not have a solid egg to pick up and taste which is one of my favourite ingredients. Overall the price didn’t match my expectation of the ramen.
I really enjoyed finding this place and eating some great ramen. Patrick, the proprietor, learned his craft after going to ramen school in Los Angeles. Having been to some great ramen places in LA, I was looking forward to the real ramen experience, and Shio didn't disappoint. The noodles were fresh, being made in-house daily, and the broth was savory and rich. Can't ask for much more than that. The restaurant is cozy, and fits the style of the flavors.
Delicious! We tried the Okonomiyaki, yall get it!! I ordered the Shio, my partner ordered the Shoyu, both were awesome! Also got extra noodles to go w the remaining broth for lunch tomorrow 👌 they also have really good water if that matters to you?
Shio noodles (extra noodles) was okay. Was not a huge fan of the homemade noodles. I still prefer ramen. The broth was good (lite and salty). The meat (pork) was the best part, very well done and flavorful. Would have been great with white rice! The service was excellent, they provided a water bottle and the shop's ambience was delightful. I would likely come back and try the shoyu based noodles. Out.
