I've been known to frequent bars that my friends work at, but this is the first place I've found in all of Westport that is worth a damn patronizing. From great bartenders, such as Stephen, Chelsea, Kaylee, and Travis, to the best God damned fried chicken dinner in all of KC, the most expansive (and affordable) whiskey selection that is sure to please any proveyor of fine spirits, and most importantly the best God damned American music there is out there with live music, the Westport Saloon is in my opinion the upper echelon of bars and venues in Kansas City. This bar is what I would show to my own family as a great representation of what Westport, and the greater Kansas City for that matter, has to offer in recommendation to places to see in this city.
The Westport Saloon is like no other establishment in the city. Nowhere else can you find live music every night of the week and nary a cover charge to boot! It's simply a great place to be---good folks, good whiskey, good music. Hands down my favorite watering hole in KCMO. Be sure to come on a Sunday night for the fried chicken special & Americana open mic.
Best venue in town for supporting local musicians! I'm really gonna miss this place after they close. I hope they're able to find a new location soon.
Really cool bar tucked away in Westport. Bartender was nice and attentive--great at handling all the drinks! Live music was awesome, of course. Lot of unique and different sounding musicians played while I was there, which is nice because it allows you to listen to music you might never would have before!
It was a Friday night bout midnight and the place was packed but it was a nice and friendly environment. I came to see my co-worker play with his band. The snacks that you order were cooked fresh to order. Very happy about that.
Bartender was kind and extremely helpful; even so far as remembering me upon my return a few weeks later. Live music is always outstanding! This is always a stop on my visits to Westport
Spent NYE here, didn't plan to we just kind of stumbled on it. So glad we did we had an awesome expereince. Great venue, service and music.
This place is like pure magic. Take a step out of busy westport and be transported into another era. Good live music (no covers pls) each night of the week and cheap drinks!
Cozy atmosphere and great live music! Everyone there was pretty friendly. The gentleman behind the bar, Will, was welcoming and even the bouncer was polite. Definitely worth checking out! Thank you guys for the great time
I absolutely love the Saloon! The service is impeccable. When I visit, it's like visiting home. The staff is always smiling, pleasant, and attentive. They remember and recognize newcomers and regulars alike. When I'm there, I always feel safe and taken care of. Most nights their isnt a cover (but when there is I never mind paying it). The music is always awesome, seriously amazing. Such a great time... always.
My wife and I don't go out a whole lot so we didn't really know what to get drinks-wise. Will took time to explain menu items for me and my wife and did an awesome job!
We also went to see the Grand Marquis who play there often - it was so fun to listen to - the music was great!!
Warm wood and brick throughout. On warm days, they've got a wall to wall floor to ceiling garage door bringing the outside in. Great live music. Covid took a toll, the kitchen is currently closed, and they don't open till 5. Music is often old school blues, bluegrass, plenty of open Mike jams of the same. Occasionally a rock or funk band plays... (usually a fusion that fits in the nice warm space). A whiskey and beer pub. Yes, pub vs any ol bar.
