I’ve been to Komatsu so many times now, it’s hard to remember what sold me initially. Was it the amazing ramen? The cordial staff? The premium hours? The excellent value? It’s hard to say. I’ve had just about every vegetarian and vegan-friendly option on the menu; the crispy fried tofu sates my need for chicken nuggets - thank god - and the seaweed thrown in to the veg-only bowls makes me feel 50 times healthier than I actually am. Highly recommend getting your bowl spicy whenever possible, because it brings the whole flavor profile up a notch and out of that too-salty place that ramen almost inevitably veers into. Komatsu is an awesome little place; you get your food quickly, you get a lot of it, and you have a great time with your pals and super night waiter. Plus, it’s open late! We could use way more places like that in KC. Give it a try.
Soooo good!! If you haven't tried this place you are definetly missing out!! Great service even better food!! Highly recommend this place!! Daniel the chef took care of us and did an exceptional job!!
Greeted promptly and seated in a booth. Only weird part was a big wall beside us with a very small little box window at the top. My friend had her 1 year old and we had to ask for a height chair, get our own napkins and silverware when the food arrived. Table had a sticky residue that we had to wipe down. Now the food was amazing and made up for the other parts that were lack luster. For appetizers we had the Chicken Buns and it was hot and fresh. Buns were very soft and the miso aioli was full of flavor. For dinner I ordered the Asahi Ramen. Smoked brisket, ginger, corn, spinach, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots and egg. I was worried it wouldn't mix well together, however it mixed perfectly well. Full of spices, brisket was incredibly tender and the eggs were actually great. I was worried it would be like a jelly texture, however it was more hard boiled texture. We'll definitely be back!!!
My husband and I have never been to a ramen house, but always wanted to go. I had read some of the reviews on google, some positive and some negative. Complaints about hours also seen complaints about the ramen noodles being under cooked, that was not the case with our ramen. In fact our experience there was so good that we’re already talking about going back! The waiters name was Cory, he helped us understand how to order, substitutes etc very helpful and full personality. That made our time there even better. The food is absolutely spot on and I highly recommend it.
I love the seating in this restaurant. The enclosed booths give just the right amount of privacy for your meal. The food is amazing. I ordered the soy based broth ramen. It had noodles, eggs, mushrooms, scallions and spinach. Every bite tastes a little different. My bowl had the chicken which was okay. My husband ordered the brisket it was very good.
Very minimalist interior. Waitress and staff were very friendly. Food tasted fantastic. Wish there were chairs instead of benches for the larger tables. Menu was simple and easy to read. Atmosphere was laid back.
Very good ramen place with lots of choices. The vibe in this place was quite interesting with the all unfinished wood theme and rap/hip-hop playing over the speakers. They had a wide variety of different types of ramen and after having a bit from each of my friends bowls, it was all delicious. Came in hungry and wasn't even able to finish my bowl but left completely full.
Yoooo, I’ve been a customer of this place for like a year now, freakin ramen is off the chain. I’ve been here, shio and boru, but komatsu has the best ramen hands down; don’t get me started on the pork buns either :p they are hella 🔥🔥🔥 my fave is the #7 but honestly, that pork broth is hella tasty. Perfect after a long night out (talking about a hangover) great recovery meal 👍🏽🔥🍲🍜🍥🍤
Pics are of ramen with pork broth and miso :p
The ramen is great. I tried the Shoyu Ramen was very flavorful. I did find the pork to be very flavorful, but I did not enjoy the texture as much as expected. But that is minor. The ramen with brisket was very nice as well. I found that the pork belly and brisket Bao were delightful. Though, my issue with the pork belly remains the same. The tangy sauce that topped the pork was what made the dish complete. As much as I enjoyed that, the brisket is miles and miles about it. The chipotle style mayo that topped it was delicious. I look forward to trying the other styles of ramen that that offer
Our food was good, but there are some issues with the establishment. When we walked up the restaurant appeared to be closed. The doors have a heavy tint and there is minimal signage. We waited at the host stand for a few minutes, which told us they were short staffed, the norm these days. It appeared there was 1 server and 1 cook. Our food came out in about 20 minutes, it looked messy, but everything tasted good. The restrooms need some work.

If you have been wondering about Ramen, definitely stop by and give Komatsu a try. The decor is very nice and the anime sign up front was an awesome touch. Our waitress Megan was awesome and very helpful. All of the flavors in my bowl were amazing. The roasted chicken was nice and tender. the chicken buns were great also.
The food is really really good at an excellent price! Each bowl is $10 and it's a steal! They have 3 different broths and each is really good! They also have vegetarian and vegan options and are very accommodating with each order! Great to get on a cold or rainy day. The noodles and the tofu are really good as well!
