I have grown to love Vietnamese food, and I have had two favorite "go to" restaurants, both called Vietnam Cafe. Now there is a third one that is currently sitting at the top of the list.
I've had bun, banh xeo, thick crab soup and orange chicken so far. All were excellent, though you'd be hard pressed to find crab in the crab soup. To be far, the server described the soup accurately and I wasn't disappointed.
This is the only restaurant where the char-broiled pork really tastes char broiled. Delicious!
The atmosphere is brighter and cleaner than either of the other restaurants, with lots of windows and exposed brick. The new streetcar line runs right past the front door. I've always had attentive servers, and while I can hear the music, it never competes with table conversation.
A great find and a wonderful addition to KC's scene, imo.
I LOVE pho and Nguyen Pho & Grill did NOT disappoint! We were seated quickly, our server was great and the pho was pho-nomenal! When we are at the City Market and craving pho, this is the place we'll go!
Very good Pho. Not the best I've had in town but good. Roasted quail was good too. Service wasn't great. I will definitely be back to try this again.
Just a stone's throw from the heart of River Market lies this nice but unpretentious Vietnamese restaurant, specializing in pho but also serving excellent appetizers and banh mi sandwiches.
The spring rolls come 2 per order, along with warm peanut dipping sauce. They were fresh tasting and very satisfying. My dining partner also ordered the "small" beef pho. It arrived and proved anything but small, both in size as well as in amount of flavor. The broth had a heavenly, fragrant flavor, and came accompanied by a hefty amount of fresh basil. My partner pronounced it as good as any beef pho he has ever eaten.
I ordered the pork banh mi sandwich, which arrived in the form of a crusty hollowed out roll stuffed with fresh veggies and marinated grilled pork. I was very happy with both the crunchy texture as well as the rich flavor profile.
Service was quick and helpful during our Sunday lunchtime visit, despite a very busy dining room. Prices are low. A limited beer and wine selection is offered. This is a casual, "come as you are" dining spot, with a bright and reasonably attractive interior. Add it all up and Nguyen Pho & Grill is a winner.
Excellent food. Clean, fast, and friendly service. Banh Mi are delicious and inexpensive. Highly recommended!

The place looked 👌 clean and organized. The waitress knowledge. The food tastes great. The 🍲 brooth wasn't hot enough. The vegetables were fresh 😋. Overall, I give 9 of 10. If you live around here, you need to check out it .
Authentic Vietnamese food with GREAT portions & prices! Absolutely recommend if you’re ever in KC; I’m not local but my boyfriend and I still drive 45 minutes every now and then just to eat here.
This is one of my favorite places to eat! The food is absolutely delicious and the service is quick! You can choose between a regular or large size when ordering Pho. They have a lunch special where the pho bowl is a little bit smaller but it come with a side of your choice. A friend recommended this place to me and I want to pay it forward to others!! If you are in the local area and want some delicious food, come visit this place! 10/10 recommend!
They never disappoint. I live 25 miles away, but stop in every time I visit the River Market. I love Vietnamese food, and they cook it very well.
Five of us ate well for $75.50, excluding tip. This included an appetizer, five waters, one Boba tea, and five entrees. Four of the five of us were Vietnamese, and we all loved every bite.
It was my fist time coming here, the food was amazing. I honestly recommend. I had the grilled chicken with eggross and shrimp. It was delicious, a huge amount of food to leave you full. I also had the mango boba. I'm definitely going there again.
I’ve made second stops at this restaurant; overall very impressed, came here because the lunch combination on pho soup and appetizers. Love the broth on its pho, the grilled pork rice dish is flavorful, crispy crepe ordered twice on both visits but the roast quails were a bit unseasoned had strong smell on its meat.
I've been coming here for years and it never let's me down. Great service, very friendly, and delicious food! My family loves to come here while visiting. Thank you
The soups have generous portions and are tasty. The combination pho had a lot of meat in the bowl. Our server was fun. This place is packed around the 2:30 hour for lunch on a weekend, but our wait time was not bad at all.
My go to, incredible food, good prices, home made, service is always really good.
My favorite is the Pho with Tofu and the Spring rolls.
We drive a long way to eat there, and it's never been disappointing.
Great place
I had Hue style beef noodle soup. It was wonderful. One of best I have ever had. Broth was rich and flavorful! I would highly recommend this place!
