Seriously awesome food and atmosphere! My husband and I split the shrimp dip. It was fantastic, more shrimp than cheese... Husband had the blackened catfish and smashed red potatoes. To die for! I had the panko fried chicken and rice. Scrumptious!! Peach pie and ice cream for dessert! Drinks were stiff and tasty!! Highly recommend the Homesteader Cafe!

We went on a Saturday at last minute and figured it would be busy. It was. On our way to the location we reserved a table and it gave a 45 minute wait as 5 parties were ahead of us. Once arrived, we actually only waited about 25 minutes. Our server was Angie and she was very efficient, friendly and patient (my hubs is picky but never really knows what he wants to eat). The food didn't take long to come out. I had Chicken and waffles. I asked for them to come out hot, and they did just that. The waffles were amazing. The Chicken was bland and, unfortunately, a little hard. To be fair it comes with an aoili sauce which I asked them to put on side because I wasn't sure I would like it. It is seasoned well and probably, why the Chicken didn't have season. I would order again for the waffles alone. The hubs had farmers breakfast, and he had no complaints. This is usually the reverse reaction, so I was happy he was happy.

Stop reading the menu and just order a Biscuit Board. You're welcome. Great place!!! Love the high ceilings, open-acoustics feel with artsy & rustic decor. Wouldn't recommend the bloody Mary, not the world's best but the food is top notch. They really have something good going on here - please go support so we can keep this location in our city!

The Homesteader Café is conveniently located downtown Kansas City. I visited for breakfast and was greeted with a warm reception by staff and such a quant environment with thought-provoking saying (I believe are from loved ones of the owners) sprinkled throughout its space. The owner, Megan, was in the house working just as hard as her employees and briefly spoke with me. The seating was comfortable and cozy. It felt like I was at my favorite community café that landmarks many conversations and a reference point for locals and those that have relocated abroad. I ordered hot cakes topped with cranberry orange jam, sweet potato hash, scrambled eggs, and bacon with mint tea. The hot cakes were warm and fluffy paired well with the jam that was made from scratch with local ingredients (as were all items I ordered). The eggs and bacon were fresh and cooked to perfection. Now, it was my first experience tasting sweet potato hash, and when I say that I made a happy plate, I mean that my plate was empty and I was happy 😊. The mint tea was hot and helped initiate a smooth move, lol. The restrooms were clean with soap and warm water. I always check out restrooms in restaurants before I rate them. The wait staff were all friendly and appropriate. I absolutely loved my experience and will be back for more.

Best chicken & waffles! We thoroughly enjoyed the food. The service was kind but slow. We waited 30 minutes for seats but we also came Sunday during peak hours. We felt that the portions weren’t as large as other brunch spots we’ve been but overall great place for brunch!

This is a great local spot for brunch. The food and service were both great. I dined here with Instagram’s start_small_things who loves and supports small businesses like this one. She loved the chocolate filled beignets. Try the fall pig for a delicious sandwich.

Service was tops! Vibe was super cool. My chilaquiles were blah- black beans not cooked fully and lack of flavor. Baked Brie was delicious! Highly recommended. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️. The flight of mimosas were good yet majorly overpriced.

Made a reservation for a bday brunch on a Saturday and the experience was great. Our server was nice and the food was good. I tried the peach chipotle wings were lacking flavor, the sauce could have been so much better! The mimosas were good & I appreciated them bringing the champagne & orange juice separately. The breakfast sandwich was delicious and I loved the sweet potato fries. I did ask for sweet potato fries but they brought out red potatoes, the swap out was easy. Also, parking across the street is free so that was a bonus!

Great place, good, open atmosphere and good people, excellent service, and awesome menu. We breakfast here regularly and recently stopped in for dinner. First time, so I can only speak to the Cajun Chicken Pasta, and the carrot cake for dessert--both were excellent. Highly recommend!

My mother and I went here for brunch. I got the chicken and waffles and she got a macaroni bowl. We had baked brie for an appetizer and a pitcher of Bloody Marys. Everything was amazing and I'll definitely be wanting to return soon!
