Excellent food and customer service! I have to say the mango scones are to die for and the coconut macaroon cheesecake was like nothing I've ever had. The Kona Cafe offers vegetarian as well as gluten free breakfast, lunch, and dessert options, making this beautifully quaint restaurant very accommodating no matter what your food preferences are! Anyone looking to relax in a scenic outdoor setting and enjoy a delicious meal while sipping the best coffee in the world will absolutly love this place just as much as I did. Everyone was friendly and provided service with aloha, and after a dip in Hawaii's warm tropical waters this cafe restashurant gem is the cherry to top a gorgeous day in paradise! Two thumbs up for these guys for sure.
Great setting, good food, and awesome desert, the coconut cake gets a 5 star all on its own. Might want to make it easier to substitute items when ordering. Had a great conversation with the owner and really enjoyed our time.
They try to grow as much of their food on their farm as possible - and if not they do their best to locally source it. As vegetarians we‘ve struggle to find good food around Hawaii - but there were enough great options for us here. Our wraps were tasty and full of protein. Highly recommended.

This place has the ABSOLUTELY BEST Mango Scones I have EVER tasted! They melt in your mouth....mmmmm! I will NEVER come visit the Big Island again without making a special trip to this restaurant to get them! You MUST try them.
Great coffee. Amazing baked goods. Wonderful service. We sat on the lanai out back and enjoyed the BEST breakfast of our two-week Hawaiian vacation, bar none.
After a long hike to Papakolea Beach, my family and I were hangry! My dad wanted to buy Kona coffee, so we stopped by at this cafe. They don't sell bags of coffee, but the food they do sell is yummy.
I ordered the chicken sandwich. My sister got the tofu wrap. And my parents shared the ahi tuna melt. We all devoured our meals, that also came with potato chips. I can't comment on what my family ordered, but my sandwich was delicious. The bread was soft, the chicken moist.. and the sauce gave it a really good flavor.
We also ordered the tiramisu cheesecake and carrot cake. I'm not a tiramisu fan, so I didn't like it much. But the carrot cake was divine!
The atmosphere at the cafe is really casual and relaxing. One of the employees, possibly the owner, had a conversation with my dad, so it's a welcoming atmosphere as well.
You were our favorite treat on the Big Island. Since learning about your permanent closure, we are mourning the loss. You will always be a legend in our minds!
