This place is a MUST!!!! We spent our wedding rehearsal dinner here and were absolutely blown away by the food. Everyone kept complimenting and talking about how amazing it was. We chose the menu including apps: Truffle tutor tots, Lobster mac and cheese, Cedar Key clams. Turtle salad. Entree options: Seared Diver scallops, Grilled bistro steak and Chicken portobello. Dessert: Chocolate peanut butter pie and Badass bread pudding. The scallops were melt in your mouth out of this world. People are still talking about how amazing the food was. We ended up going to brunch the day after the wedding because no one could get enough. YOU MUST try the key lime pie martini! Graham cracker crust and all!!!!! There was just 1 small hiccup for the rehearsal as we thought we would have an entire area private from other guests which unfortunately didn't end up happening causing us to be a little more spread out than preferred but the service and food more than made up for it.
I had a generous portion of prime rib (14 oz), it was excellent with very little fat, but done slightly more than I would have wished. My wife had the Mangrove Snapper which was also excellent. The Restaurant has a nice setting with a bar in the middle of the floor, an atrium ceiling that allows natural light and an open kitchen. The restaurant recommends reservations. The waiter, Omeil was extremely professional and very pleasant.

Still excellent lo these many years later --. This place is apparently a mainstay along the Overseas Highway. It looks to have gone a bit more upscale than the old days -- although the prices are still quite reasonable and the atmosphere still casual.
The excellent service deserves mention -- everyone went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. It was just a stop for breakfast on the way back to the mainland and what a great decision.
The food was outstanding. Dining companion had a more traditional breakfast and it was all perfectly prepared. I try to eat seafood at every mean whenever in The Keys so I went with the shrimp and grits. I don't recall any mention of the peppers on the menu but they were not an unpleasant addition to the dish -- just unexpected. Shrimp where large and well seasoned. The only change I'd make -- remove those tails in the kitchen so I don't have to pull the shrimp out of the grits and remove them before putting them back in.
Can't wait to get back down and stop at this place for dinner.
What a nice surprise! They remodeled a number of years ago but the last time I was here was in their old building back in the early 70's. So glad we stopped. Especially like their small plates menu. Had their hearts of palm salad and their lobster mac n cheese. Both excellent. Mac n cheese had nice chunks of lobster, very creamy, al dente pasta, sprinkled on top with panko crumbs. Good size serving. My husband had their beet salad with goat cheese followed by their pork belly -- crispy, smoked and meaty over shredded fennel, carrots, etc. with key west truffle honey served with a small sweet crisp cornbread round. Will definitely be back.
PS my husband's wine by the glass was a healthy pour.
Aside from the wait. To be fair, we arrived at shift change from lunch to dinner, but had to wait a good bit for our food, which is never fun with a hungry five year old. Service was really slow from getting drink to the check. I would have ordered desset, but by the time the waitress came back to see if we wanted some, I was just ready to go. BUT - my food was tasty, really tasty. The decor was cool and I liked the historic feel of the place. The collard greens were done by someone who knows what he's doing, and my kid loved his pizza. SO, I would go back and I like it, but maybe I'd go at a different time!
Best part of our trip. My wife and I went to the Green Turtle after our fishing guide reccomended it as a great place. We arrived on a Wednesday night without a reservation and couldn't be seated because the place was packed so we had a drink at the bar and were seated about twenty minutes later by a very nice waitress. She reccomended the scallops and the "steak and taters" (a New York Strip with truffle tater tots). We ordered both and both were absolutely over the top. For dessert we split the bread pudding with bourbon sauce and it was fantastic as well. The only problem with the whole evening was the popularity of the place. It is loud and lively so don't expect a quite, romantic dinner for two. Definitely make a reservation or take your chances.

Coconut french toast and Starbucks coffee!!!!. Coconut French toast w/ banana is beyond excellent and they carry Fresh juice, strong coffee and sport great service. Sweet pecan rolls are a must have.

Very good breakfast spot, coconut French toast is excellent and oatmeal good as well. Fresh juice, strong coffee and great service. They do wear their right wing politics on the table tops if that's not your cup of tea it might be a bit annoying; but I had a great experience.
Great breakfast. I'm a local in Islamorada, and you will find me here for breakfast almost 6 days a week (the turtle rests on Mondays) try the turtle breakfast, but come hungry. Try the sausage patties (inside story)

FABULOUS!. My first experience at the Green Turtle Inn was an extremely pleasant one. We went for breakfast on this past Father's Day weekend in June and the place was packed inside! The interior decor is that of the 1940's, historic Key West, flooded with photographs of what the Island once was in the past and the people that occupied the Island, very interesting and lovely. We were directed into a very VERY back white room because it was so busy, so I understood. Breakfast was out of this world. I recommend the 2 eggs, toast, hash browns and bacon. Everything was robust and delicious. The hash browns I loved, because they are little mini red fingerling potatoes cooked with paprika, mellow onions and peppers. They were seasoned to perfection. The sausage was delicious as well, however I found them to be very rich in taste and you can only eat so much until you are too full. The freshly squeezed grapefruit juice was perfect and fresh, highly recommended! We would like to go back sometime in the future and actually get a chance to eat in the main dining room to experience the full "Green Turtle Inn" hospitality and view. This place is fabulous!
Breakfast, lunch, & dinner---it's all good. Make reservations for dinner to avoid wait! Full menu at bar, as well. Bring your wine for nominal cork fee, but make sure they don't sale it first. Chefs are creative and talented. Enjoy!

We were a party of 10 and all the food came quickly, fresh and delicious.
Had a Fish sandwich with a side Caesar salad that was amazing (fresh croutons and perfect dressing)
The service was fast and meet all our needs, she was amicable and great.
Totally recommend this place for party of one or many more…and will comeback for sure as I need to try their famous turtle chowder
Stopped here for breakfast, on our way home from Marathon. We were not disappointed. Plenty of parking. Fun atmosphere. Excellent service. My husband said the eggs were actually cooked spot on lol.
On a long drive home from Key West I happen on the Green Turtle Inn. It turns out it was a great little sports pub with awesome barbecue. Food on this drive is spotty at best and it’s hard to stop so when in Islamorada be sure to stop by. The brisket was exceptional and prices are reasonable I would’ve stayed longer, but I’m driving my next stop will definitely be for longer and better planned.

The service was both cheerful and accommodating, creating an atmosphere that every guest feels valued. The genuine happiness, radiating from each employee in the establishment, adds to the ambience, and makes it feel like a centuries-old treasure.
The experience here is quite interesting, it's a mic out of "wow" and "meh". We came towards the end of breakfast I would say and it was packed. The hostess took a few minutes to see what we could do, meanwhile a server and I managed to find 2 adjacent tables and push them together. After sitting down we were kinda left alone for a bit until someone's realized that we didn't have anything in front of us. Once our initial drink order was taken, it moved pretty fast. The food was a mix of good and wow. The omlet for example, is absolutely delicious, it seems as if they use cream cheese or something in it... Soo good. Looks atrocious but tastes amazing. The overall cost is very high for a breakfast/brunch place, but we went here in 10 years prior and had to make the stop again. Overall this place will always have a spot in our heart and memories.
Super duper! Try the shrimp and grits or grilled Wahoo. Key lime pie has a macadamia nut rice crispy crust. Hot and chewy dinner rolls for starters at every meal. Service was excellent and the atmosphere perfect. The Inn celebrates its 76th year. Perfect also for a birthday like this one at the next table.
Upscale restaurant with an excellent brunch. The shrimp and grits and the avocado toast were standouts. Great service and a full bar. Highly recommended.
This place has been on my list to try for a while and came very well recommended. We stopped in for Sunday breakfast on the way home from Key West. There was a 20 minute wait for a table so we sat at the bar. Started with Bloody Marys as we waited for our food. I choose the Shrimp and Grits and hubby had the Fish Sandwich. His sandwich was good but my shrimp and grits were amazing. The sauce was just the right amount of spice, the shrimps juicy and loved the onions and peppers on the sauce. Comes with bread for dipping and you well! You won’t want to leave a drop of that sauce on the grits. Now I have to come back to try more from their tempting menu.
We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The service was really good and the cocktails were excellent. For starters I think the buffalo cauliflower appetizer ($11) was perfection, it’s really worth trying. The dinner also includes warm bread rolls. We were there on a Wednesday and I had the steak special ($30) Compliments to the chef because they can grill an incredible steak. The flavor was exceptional. My husband had the fresh catch ($38 + $9 for the Ala Roxie preparation) and it was delicious as well. Overall I don’t think you can go wrong here. Definitely worth the price.
Super friendly service. We had our toddler and the staff was super nice to us.
Food was delicious from the chicken and waffles, to the meatloaf with bacon, to the Ruben and spicy turtle soup. Highly recommended.
