We want to express our sincere appreciation of the chitterlings, chicken, greens,macaroni and cheese,stewed tomatoes and red velvet cake we purchased on 5/31/2015. The chitterlings and greens were seasoned extremely divinely. Hats off to the cooks and the staff. Looking forward to or next visit.
Former employee. I worked at Marbles for 8 1/2 years on Lafayette Rd. I learned a great deal under a Great Chef. Not only did I enjoy the diverse range of patrons, I also truly enjoyed the food. Yummmy!! Cafeteria style is wonderful, I dont want to sit around and wait for someone to finally come to my table to start me off with a glass of water first. When I sit down I'm ready to eat now!! Chef Marble, you rock and your food is still #1 with me

Wonderful!!!!. Not sure what Gravy lady is talking about, but the food here is excellent. Plenty of seating throughout, and even though I like Maxine's quite a bit, I have to say that the food here is easily better, 10 dollars is what you will pay in any soul food environment, whether cafeteria style or not. The portions are huge unlike Maxines. The food is all highly seasoned and very delicious. The desserts are fantastic and the service has always been good. One of the best soul food restaurants in town.
Delicious. Had lunch here today and enjoyed it very much! I had turkey and dressing, macaroni and cheese, and greens and my honey had short ribs, mac and cheese and green beans. Just great home style food, well seasoned and prepared. Sure, the building is nothing fancy, but who cares when they food is this good. Give it a try, you will be glad you did.
In Response. Just read a review of Marble's Southern Cookery....and i was appalled to say the least...it was entitled "Garbage". After reading it I'm convinced that the person writing it is an employee of Maxine's Chicken and Waffles( which is mentioned in the review). I would just like to say that though you might not be expecting to pay over $10 for your meal...it is worthevery penny. I always enjoy my meal there. The fried chicken there is hands down the best and the dressing definetly hits the spot and I almost forgot the banana pudding(not sure how) but it is to die for. Overall I would say if you want your monies worth and you want good home cook soul food this is the place to go. Just the number of years in business is a testiment to that...not to mention the loyal following of customers. As for Maxine's I will definetly be trying it so I can right my own review.

Brought the Beef short ribs, w/ cabbage & mac n cheese home, added my own fixings & trimmings...but its like a piece of heaven in this meal!!!!!!
Doesn't open til 11:30am on Sundays, contrary to Yelps. Ordered Braised Short Ribs, Mac&Cheese, and Cabbage.
We came here at the suggestion of other family while vacationing in Indy in Fall 2017. This place hands down has some of the best soul food I've ever had. It's a small place but once you walk in it's much larger than it seems. They accommodated our group of 8 people. It's cafeteria style so you'll grab a tray and slide across the bar and pick what you want. I'd list it but really they have it all and all of it's good. Several of us got different items and tried each others. The desserts were just as good and I love they had kool aid as a drink. The prices were good for what you get larger helpings and the staff was great is dealing with all our questions. Will definitely be returning.
I've eaten at Marbles several times during the last few months. Each time I have been very pleased with my food. The menu has a nice variety of meats, vegetables, and desserts. I think the portions are generous and the cost very reasonable. But Marble's greatest asset in my opinion is the warm and friendly environment of the restaurant and especially the staff.
Everyone is helpful, generous with their time, and willing to answer my questions.
As other customers have said, I wish Marble's was open more hours.That is my only suggestion!!

Wow very nice ! Like teally amazing food. If you're really into home cooking this is the place for you. Over Stuffed myself. I had the smoothed beef short ribs tender meat falls off the bone. Very tasty ! Absolutely a 10. My wife s and I'd I didnt reach for the salt shaker. Food season to perfection.
The food was great Southern down home cooking just like Thanksgiving dinner! I had the fried chicken, baked mac & cheese, green beans, cornbread, and peach tea which was all amazing! We almost didn't stop due to the building looking very rundown and out of date but sir glad we did! It was definitely a different experience!
I was in Indy on vacation and was looking for some good, home cooked, soul food. Marble’s did not disappoint. This was during the Covid 19 pandemic and they abided by all social distancing rules and regulations. A friend of mine and I ate here after a long night of drinking, and I’m telling you that was longest 2 hour drive back home. Healthy portion size, amazing flavor, and the food sticks to your ribs! Not to mention how friendly every single person on the staff was! Will most definitely be back the next time I am in Indianapolis! Thank you Marble’s!
I grew up eating here. If you like soul food smothered in gravy, This is your place. The peach cobbler is mmmm. Where's the ice cream? Don't forget to pucker your smacker with a LG. The Mix drink (Fruit Punch and Lemonade Combo). You're liable to catch Mr. Marble walking around supervising his delightful eats. You're going to spend at least $15.00 eating here, but this is comfort food Indy style.
Really good dressing. I never thought I would find anybody that cooked chitterlings like my mom (I never heard of a KY until I moved to indy so they will always be chitlins to me) a little pricy they are but you can't be mad when you know how much work goes into have clean chitlins and Marble's has clean chitlins. I've now had the catfish, dressing and chitlins. I won't mention the chicken because it was not note worthy it actually had no taste and flash fried in old grease so I won't do the chicken again. I was skeptical about the catfish but I was very surprised it was really 👍 I will definitely get it again. I wish there was a larger order of the chitlins but I would have to do a double order which would be about $35 for 2 cups of them 😢 😕 😞. I'll be back next week to try something else and oder my chitlins dressing and catfish.
