A Hidden Gem. From the outside, I couldn't help but think this place looked like a grocery store. Upon walking through the doors, my assumption was correct; this was a grocery store. However, placed in the back, behind all of the registers and aisles, was a small bar area with a grill behind it. This is where the proverbial magic must happen. I walked up to a sign that had three menu items: Taco, Burrito, or Torta. I opted for the asada burrito and a Coke in a glass bottle. One burrito and one coke for $5? The price seemed to good to be true and if there is one thing I know, it is that price usually reflects quality of food. But not so fast, I quickly found myself saying as I watched them grill the tortilla and throw a juicy, delicious looking meat into the middle. Each spoon full carefully placed as to not overload one end of my lunch. Next came a slice of tomato, beautifully green lettuce, and cheese. Just when I thought he was done, I watched as they cut open a fresh avocado and scoop out half for my burrito. It was then gently rolled and handed across the counter to me. Not only was it beautiful, but it was also much more than I would have imagined for the price I paid. I sat down thoroughly impressed with what I had just witnessed and noticed to my left two sauces: one red and one green. I always opt for red. A home made smokey hot sauce that complemented the already delicious burrito beautifully. But I was not done. I noticed a small tin sitting next to me which upon further inspection revealed to be full of grilled serano peppers. Shoving one of them into half of my burrito to give it that extra kick I felt it needed. I sat and ate while time stopped and my religious experience continued. Afterwards, I threw away my bottle, thanked the chef, and maneuvered around the customers and their shopping carts. Needless to say, I will be making a trip back soon.
Had the carne asana tacos.. Awesome! And cheap! Salsa was good and super spicy. I couldn't find it initially, until the dude next to me passed it over to me. I will be going back. Plus the grocery store is a nice plus. Might buy some marinated meats next visit.
Fast and Tasty and Cheap. This little eatery is inside a mexican grocery store. They offer tacos, tortas and burritos, with your choice of fillings which were carne asada, chicken, beef somethered with onions and maybe beef tongue...it looked like it may have had an X through that choice so not too sure. They also offer a corn dish I saw being served and topped with different toppings. They have some drinks there that are in cold dispensers that keep the liquid moving...not sure what the name of those are. But they offered pinapple water, cantelope water, rice water, and jamaica water. None of these looked like waters, but more so juices. Now the rice water was Horchata and it was amazing!! The workers spoke very little english and were kind and the food was really great and filling. Cheap prices too. Not too much room to sit. Will definitely be returning to this one!
I'm not a big fan of Mexican food. my palate does not like bland food, and Mexican food always tasted bland to me. Nothing wrong about Mexican food but I like spices and aroma of herbs which I find, is generally lacking in that type of food but I saw a review about this place and I decided to check the tacos. This is a good place to go. This has a very different ambience almost as if you are in Mexico based on my one time experience of going to a Mexican restaurant in Cancun. The service is good people speak very well and are able to explain the food. I was there for tacos, and I ordered three tacos. I ordered chicken taco a beef taco and a pork taco. I'm happy to say that my experience was almost equal to what I had experienced in Cancun and the food was good. Tacos were very soft, they were hot, chicken in the taco felt slightly cold but it was properly cooked and it was OK. The pork taco was very good. It had a tangy sauce in it, tasted like mango, and that was very fulfilling and the beef taco was again good, but bland, but I guess it is supposed to be like that. The quality of food is good. The tacos overall, tasted good. I think it is worth going to this place again and try the other stuff. Also, this place is very well frequented by native Mexican food loving population, as well as non-natives and it was crowded. It was lunch hour and people were coming in. I can't say the name of this place but it is worth visiting this place. It's part of a grocery store. Grocery store is OK. Nothing much to talk about maybe all Mexican food and canned food you may get a better selection at Saraga, but this was a good place for food.
I'm glad we have this hidden gem in the neighborhood. As expected, grocery shopping can be a bit overwhelming during busy hours/times with the holidays. However, the cashier was still courteous and friendly. I then went to the restaurant to place an order, and the waiter was extremely nice and courteous. My order "to go" was promptly ready.
The food was great we had a blast. The atmosphere was delightful 🙂🙂
I love to go get produce here. Inexpensive herbs, ripe avocados, and there's always someone working in the department if you need assistance.
We came to get meat. The service was good and so was the quality.
Great food and great service!! Very clean place as well. Forgot to take a pic but hubby and I both got burritos and they were very filling! Definitely plan to go back and try something else soon.
Finally found a place where they sell REAL Mexican food, North of the border. tacos are to die for. Beautiful and nice people
The best carne asada tacos in Indy! This used to be only a grocery store with a kitchen in the back, but their renovation of the restaurant finished a few years ago. Normally get a horchata with the tacos! The salsa verde is great too!
Very nice store and friendly staff. The only complaints I have are, there are no price labels or tickets on a lot of things and I don't know how much things cost and there is a long checkout time. They have a very good restaurant too.
Great service (depending on your waitresses, Daniela always goes above and beyond), restaurant is always super clean, not overpriced at all and food always delicious. Only thing I dislike is the green and red taco sauce, green not spicy and flavorless. Red sauce is spicy but not much favor. It would be nice if they had some tomatillo tacos sauce instead of chipotle.
