The atmosphere is great, the donuts are good to fantastic, and the staff are friendly. Vegan donuts are available, but they go fast so maybe call ahead and reserve one. Cons: no bike parking and the drinking cups are disposable. Also, it would be nice to know something about the ingredients for the non-vegan donuts.
This old re-purposed building turned donut shop, is casual and chill for your weekend morning to come and have a donut. I would put these donuts in the "gourmet" due to select donut prices , if you pick your own assortment of donuts it is $25 and i think that is for a dozen. My husband visited this location a few months back, we had trouble finding it, the building is sort of hidden and at the end of short street. The outside may fool you, but the inside has a hipster to modern feel.
There was no a good selection of donuts when got there, it was going on about 11. I tried a Strawberry Granola donut, which i normally wouldn't get. The flavor wasn't terrible ,however i don't think i would order it again. I don't eat glaze donuts but my husband ordered a few so i tried one of his. Ohmygosh, it was one of the best glaze donuts i have tasted in awhile if i do say so myself. The glaze donuts had been freshly made too, they were hot and just the right amount of glaze. This donut shop also helps the community by giving domestic violence survivors employment opportunities, i can appreciate a good cause. Do support this local Indy donut shop if ever you're on this side of town.
The chicken sandwiches were absolutely delicious. The donuts weren’t anything special. The service was good as it could be with just two people working during early lunch hours. The only reason I give it a 4 is because with just the two people they seemed to be struggling with keeping tables clean and emptying trash. The place just wasn’t as tidy as it could be.
Adorable donut place. Super chill atmosphere great for studying. They serve cake and yeast donuts and have a variety of flavors. Good place for groups to sit and they have a cool fireplace in the corner. Donuts are larger than expected and pretty good. Got the maple bacon yeast donut and it was huge! Definitely worth the $3.
I was too late for donuts, sadly. However, the Indiana and Honey Nut chicken sandwiches were amazing!! Great mac and cheese and cole slaw. Loved the cold brew. I'll be back for those donuts though...
Maya’s and Rian’s 2021 Doughnut 🍩 Tasting Tour!
My niece and nephew toured three nearby doughnut shops to compare their glazed doughnuts, try their recommended selections, and judge the atmosphere of each location. Below is their kid review of General American:
Pink with greenery! Customer service is super to infinity! Lots of fancy options. Really kid friendly with fun tables, gumballs , and games. It looks like a fun place to hang out. It’s also a place where you can work (they saw a group meeting with laptops working)!
Overall 5/5 stars
Doughnut rating 4/5
Perfect Vegan Krispy Kreme donut. My only complaint is that all the donuts aren’t vegan! If your vegan donuts are perfect & sell out first, why not make them all vegan? Definitely will return.
Best donuts in Indy! The Benny and Pistachio donuts are to die for! Cute place, dog friendly, fun little things for kids to play with.
Move over long's there is some serious donut competition in town! Nice quaint location near Fountain Square. If you haven't tried this place you are missing out! Think longs but a bigger more hearty glazed donut.
I love the decor and atmosphere when you come in. The donuts are delicious and they have fun flavors. The coffee is tasty as well. I like that they have vegan options! It's my favorite place for donuts that I've found in Indy so far.
