I consider myself a fried fish expert and this place has the best fried fish I have ever had. They don't use catfish they use a white fish and it is delicious. Their baked chicken also very tasty. So glad my friends told me about their fish. Crispy and fresh. Give it a try you won't be disappointed
I am not originally from Houston so I did not try this place right away. But I must say I am impressed with the flavor!! However the customer service experience can be better. I have tried 2 locations and it must be a trend. The food is good (a bit pricey) but what if just that is not enough to bring the customer back..
Having frequented the franchise for years, I can readily say this Hartz's is one of the good ones, in comparison to other locations.
The fried fish here is the star of the show in my opinion,
-extra crisp
-hot
-thick pieces that are undeniably fish
Fried chicken is tasty here too, though if you're expecting it not to be greasy you're in the wrong place.
The rest of their menu is as you should expect of a buffet at under 15 dollars (at the time of writing)
Mashed potatoes, rice, gravy, fries, "salad" bar that is actually just a condiment bar for most, all are of passing and palatable standard, undoubtedly from bulk or food-service quality that is akin to Texas public school lunches.
Everything we order here is always fried fresh! We don't mind the wait because we're going to get something piping hot and comforting. The fried chicken here doesn't get the props it deserves. It's way BETTER than its competition. It always reminds me of a mom & pop fried chicken restaurant. The food is prepared and served with so much care. The fried okra are the BEST in the Houston!
Been to a few different Hartz over the years, this one is by far one of the cleanest! Buffet was abundant and fresh during lunch hours, however, later in the afternoon early evening, the freshness could use some work…
I’m giving 5 stars to this location ONLY … I normally don’t like buffets … but I was there with a friend that likes their food . We went ti a few Hartz before and the food of other locations was just disgusting !

8 years plus going here still the best hartz chicken in Houston. If you’ve been disappointed in the past by another hartz, give this place a try. $15 for buffet with drink but the hot wings fish and fried chicken make it worth it, plus the ice cream machine works 75% of the time
The nostalgia of having this southern icon still thriving is proof that good traditions are made over good food. This buffet is timeless because of all the classic choices
Great price for what all you get 9.99 chicken and fish buffet and that includes a drink. Lots of different kinds of chicken to pick from.
