Just Oxtails Soul Food

The first time I went to this place back in 2006, I got sick! When I went in there about 5 days ago, I tried the catfish plate, and it was pretty good, salty, but it was still good. The cornbread was dry. The greens were good but very salty. The macaroni looked like it was colored and tasted strange, like chicken stock, not cheese. I guess they are trying a healthier recipe. I didn't try any desserts. They weren't friendly and welcoming, I was the only customer in line, so they just haven't bothered with being welcoming other than to say "welcome" without trying to make eye contact or smile. Try the food, see if you like it. Don't go in there with dietary restrictions! The greens have meat. Parking lot is large, but rough!

Finally got a chance to try out this place. With so many awesome restaurants in Houston, there isn't much incentive to try new places when the ones I love are consistently good. I ordered the smothered pork chops over rice, green beans and mac and cheese. The gravy had a great consistency, but it was loaded with a lot of pepper. I love lots of seasoning, but it should be well balanced. It wasn't too bad but the competition in Houston is stiff. The green beans may have been the best green beans I've ever had! I want that recipe. The mac and cheese was disappointing. Lots of mac and very little cheese. Whoever put that out needs to reconsider the industry. I give it a four because I didn't get the itis, nor was there too much salt. Next time I'll try their fried fish and other sides. Hopefully they fix the mac and cheese because that's a required side and it must be great.

WOWWW!!!!!!!! AMAZING AND DELICIOUS SOUL FOOD!!!! Came by this afternoon on 12/08/2020 to pick up 3 Dinners. From the beginning when I called to place my order the young man and young lady where very professional and helped me out figuring out what to get since this was my first time ordering from this place. They were very patient and respectful. When I arrived to pick up my food they were very understanding and and brought out my food to my car. I am very grateful for that and it shows how much the employees and the restaurant appreciates and cares for their customers. Once I picked up my order and got home and I saw the amount of food that was served, I was blown away!!! I dont think that there is another restaurant in Houston that serves like that. The amount of food is well worth every penny and then some. I have never tasted Soul food in my life but I wanna say this was the most tastiest delicious food I have ever tasted. The quality and the taste of the food was amazingly delicious. I would like to express my gratitude to the cook for cooking such delicious food and to the rest of the employees and management for serving and running an amazing restaurant. I highly reccomend this location for having great attitudes amazingly fast services and very very delicious food. I promise that the price that they charge for every dinner is well worth it. Whenever I'm treating myself, I stop here . The food is sooooooo awesomely good. There's not a dish that these cooks can't handle. I want to thank them personally. Even their presentation was enticing. Keep up the awesomeness

Everything was seasoned good and still warm when I got home. 😋 it's a little drive but I'll be going back! The only reason they didn't get 5 stars is one of the workers was not so pleasant telling me my grubhub order was canceled because of an error on grub hubs behalf or whoever gave them the menu after driving 35 minutes.
