It will be sad to see this place go . We as kids use to come here to eat . We didn’t have much money, but Poncho’s was inexpensive and was always a good place to eat. For family after church or on the weekends was so good. We have been eating at Poncho’s for years . My all time favorite was the chili reyenos. So please go and eat here before they close there doors. And give the ladies that serve you a good tip. Some have been here for a long time. Big thanks for all the staff at Poncho’s. We love you for the service to all the community that came to your establishment and fed some family that didn’t have much.
It's been years since we've been and my wife's mom used to love coming here for the sopapillas and honey. The food is three stars for taste and quality, what you get is plenty. The fourth star is for the little old lady that brought us whatever we asked for with a great big smile. We made sure we gave her a great tip, she deserved it. They have a dessert bar with churros and chocolate cake and cookies....the churros were good. On our last visit I do remember sending a white flag up our flagpole signifying our surrender, hey! I'm easily entertained.
I was so excited to revisit Ponchos. My mom used to treat my brother and I when we were kids and this was our favorite place to eat. I left Houston 18 years ago and had high hopes to find this Ponchos while revisiting; I did! It hasn’t changed a bit; same great food, same great service. I can not put into words how happy I was to find this classic. ❤️
You have to love Pancho’s to love Poncho’s! It’s been around forever. Many locations have closed but this one has remained open for decades! Many of the awesome staff has been there for over 30+ years! Excellent customer service. They still have all the favorites. The amazing sopapillas speak for them selves. Shredded chicken tacos are one of my favorites. Can’t forget the taquitos & flautas ! Very clean and COVID safe. Seating is social distance guide lines and gloves are readily available for things you need to serve your self.
Prices have gone up over the years but it’s acceptable price.
Service and Food were good, haven't been to a Panchos in over 15 years since they left Arizona. Was not disappointed. A great place to bring the family.
The food is mediocre but the service was good. I always take new friends and family here for the experience. The place holds a spot in my heart as it was a favorite of my family when I was young. It is clean and the sopapillas are on point. I will alter the review if I get the food poisoning everyone warns about...but I am honestly not worried. My wife was terrified because all her co-workers warned her when she told them I was taking her there! LOL. If ya have never been...well ya gotta go at least once...kinda like the Hobbit Cafe or the Potato Patch.
Sometimes I just gotta have it!!! For lunch I recommend getting there as close to 11:30 to 12:30 for the freshest selections. The green and the red stew are awesome as well as the chili rellenos! Best refried beans & rice PERIOD! All you can eat with sopaipillas for desert.
We loved it! We are from PHX AZ and no longer have Poncho's. The food was exactly like I remembered when I was a kid growing up. Wish so much they would reopen in AZ.
Entering Pancho's today was like stepping back in time! All the fresh, hot enchiladas, flautas, tacos and chalupas one can eat. And don't forget to raise the flag for steaming hot soppapillas with honey .... and MORE FOOD!!!
Nothing has changed. This location on Hwy 45 South is clean, with friendly service, and all the delicious tex/mex food that tastes exactly as we remembered. (Not to be confused with the Hwy 45 North location which is horrible.)
My family enjoyed our VERY special dinner outings at the Bellaire, TX location, and my husband's family at the Spring Branch location during the 1960s/1970s. After we married in the 1980s, OUR kids asked for their annual family birthday dinners at the SW Houston/Hwy59 location.
We will definitely be back soon, and bring our children - and THEIR children ... so they can make amazing memories raising the flag too. More soppapillas, please!!! 😁
A very good selection of Mexican food, buffet style! And I received the most amazing customer service from Esther, can not wait to return there.
