Red Ox Bar & Grill

Great first impression. Visited Red Ox on a Thurs evening. Super cute place! The decor and all the little details are really lovely. Its got a cool, funky happy vibe. Had the chips & queso to start. Loved the fresh tomatoes and peppers in the queso. It was a bit runny for my tastes but the flavor was good. I would've preferred the chips to be warm but no biggie. I had the beef tacos al carbon. The fajita beef was excellent! Super tender and cooked perfectly. Not gristle-y or greasy. Flavor was excellent, though I did detect a hint of liquid smoke, which I don't care for. Hubby had the chicken enchiladas verdes, which he said was great. The rice was pretty standard but good. The refried beans were good too--homemade. The tortillas were also homemade--yum. I saw ceviche being served and it looked good. It was happy hour so we had $4.50 margaritas. The bartender was friendly--he was also our server. Service was fine. The menu is fairly small. They don't appear to have beef or cheese enchiladas, only chicken and spinach. I was hoping for cheese enchiladas and maybe tamales. Our only slight complaint was the fairly loud dance music. Both the loudness and style of music detracted from our dining experience a bit. And it looked like there was a set up to have a DJ there, which was surprising since the place is pretty small. There was only one other table when we were there. I really hope this place catches on and expands its menu. I'll be back to try that ceviche that looked so good.

Red Ox is absolutely awesome. The margaritas are great and the wine selection is good too. Wednesday Steak Night is the best but they have an amazing menu of so many great dishes. I'm so glad the owners Terry and Lily decided to bring their wonderful restaurant to our neighborhood.

This was an unusual place for my girlfriends HS reunion party; and was a new place for me to go. Small and quaint. Story: Being vegetarian all they had set up for this thing was hamburgers and chicken sandwiches and essentially the cost to go and eat per the reunion committee was $25 per person....damn. Well since I am vegetarian they manager took the time to understand and made me a Portabello Mushroom Burger.....and it was one of the best ones I've had....even better that what I make at home.. I was very appreciative and can't wait to go back again, just for the Portabello Mushroom burger they served me.
