Amazing gem right in the middle of downtown! The lunch menu offered so many unique and savory options, I had to try a few. The food and service were excellent, all while enjoying the atmosphere in the historic SAM. Took a peek at the wine list, and cannot wait to go back for happy hour and dinner. If you're a Houston foodie, definitely put it on your list!
I met a friend here for a great weekday lunch! Since it was new, we ordered a few things to share. The pickled shrimp was SO GOOD! Pickled veggies seem to be a common menu item these days, but also having shrimp with the veggies was fantastic. We also had the Cobb salad and short rib. The Cobb salad itself was pretty standard, but the pickle dressing was unique, quite tasty, and made it not just another Cobb. It was just the right amount of dressing, with a nice (but not overpowering) pickle tang. The short rib was also good, and a large lunch portion. It came with brussels sprouts, which prepared in an amazing, crispy way. I could have eaten a whole plate of just the brussels sprouts! (yes, I am raving about brussels sprouts--that's how good they were)
The menu could have used a few more details (like if the fish was fried or grilled), but the staff was able to answer questions about the preparation. I'm looking forward to returning and trying some more menu items.
The Pearl is only open for breakfast, so lunch and dinner come out through bar. I wasn't happy since that wasn't what I was aiming for on a date night, a TV in the background. The food menu is limited but the steak and risotto were both well done. The bartender made the night enjoyable, extremely attentive. We got lucky it was practically empty. On a busy night, I'm sure he wouldn't be able to attend to us as much. Overall if you're looking for a decent place to eat before a night on the town, this is it. If you're looking for upscale date night, this isn't.
We had a nice time at this quaint spot. Happy hour drinks and food items were great!
Stayed at the hotel this restaurant is located. Food was very satisfying. Glad we had tasty food and a bar right down stairs. Servers and bartenders are very friendly.
The restaurant is on the first level of the Sam Houston Hilton Curio hotel. The service is very attentive 👍, bartender (Chivrelle sp?) is amazing 🙏, and food is excellent 🙌.
Chef Raphael is a wonderfully good host. I had the burger and fries on the lunch menu and it was delicious, the meat was fresh and the fries were to die for. This place isn’t usually crowded for lunch and breakfast and the prices are reasonable for a downtown and for the high quality food they produce.
Wow Jeffrey is the best bar tender / host / and entertainer. We had several craft cocktails he made that were amazing. The up sales on food were well worth it. My mouth is still watering. Jessica and I made friend with people at the bar and talked forever with Jeffery right there taking care of us.
I visited the bar for a quick dinner and a drink, it served food from the restaurant on the bar bites menu (posted outside the bar). The drink was great and the food was delicious. In the morning I ate with my hotel stay free breakfast coupons and everything was comped except the tip. The food was quick to come out and very tasty.
Stumbled across this hidden gym after everything being busy on a Sunday. The service from Rafael and Johnny B couldn’t have been any better. Don’t get me start with the Sam Houston Lunch entree. It’s #texasAf!
It had bbq burnt ends on side topped with a biscuit and huevo ranchero on the other side.
Great spot for a quick lunch. Food was delicious and prices reasonable. Will be back! Get the risotto!!!
Great place to meet up after work and dine and or have drinks. I ordered the NY strip steak and it was perfect. Full of flavor and tender! I will definitely be back. Side note: the hotel adjacent to this restaurant is five star all the way.. Both are awesome choices to anyone looking to do it real nicely.
