I'm giving this place 5 stars to help negate all the 2 star reviews. We had not eaten at Molina's for 20 years because we moved out of the neighborhood. Found ourselves passing them at lunch today and decided to go back (had great memories of their good food) and try them again. And we could not figure why we don't drive there all the time for our Mexican food fix. The luncheons we had we terrific! The food was tasty (love the chili sauce on the enchiladas- best enchiladas since San Antonio) and the chicken tacos were tender and spicy. Granted, the chips were not as light as other places, but they tasted homemade and I personally think they have the best salsa in the city (a roasted pepper smoky flavor I am partial you). The Margaritas were NOT weak. Had them on the rocks. The waitress was sweet and the service was perfect. The restaurant was clean. And well cared for. Molina's food may not be for everyone as it still has a family recipe taste, slightly more Mexican than Tex-Mex. may be why we loved it so much. Did I mention the tasty refried beans? If you don't like them, get your Mexican food from a can. This stuff is made by the restaurant. We have found our to-go Mexican restaurant!
This is the best Mexican food we have ever ate!! This is my family’s favorite restaurant for Mexican food just sad that it’s a drive for our family since we live in Angleton but we go here every chance we get!! If only they were local it would be our weekly go to ❤️❤️
The food is delicious!!!! The server was really nice, but never refilled all of our drinks. We didn't even get silverware right away. We asked another server walking by for them and he just smoked and walked away and didn't even help us either. Despite that, the food was so good and the portions were huge!!!
They must have a new chef because I've eaten here for years and it's always serviceable Mexican food with great chips and pralines! But ate here Saturday and it was a splendid experience, had chicken tornados as did my dining guest (she had ground beef) and they were both excellent with plenty of meat and sour cream. They have beefed up their salsas, now three and 2 were actually spicy hot. Definitely recommend coming here or trying again if you haven't been a while. Our waiter did go MIA but a couple of other people filled in and I got my check. Still have great pralines too!
Love, love, love. Can't wait to go back to try something new. They start you off with 2 or 3 kinds of salsa and some pickled carrots. I had the Mexican Hot Plate (One cheese enchilada, one tamale with chili con carne, rice, and beans). So, so good!¡
We have enjoyed Molina’s for over 40-years - this was my husband’s first Mexican food, when he moved to Houston (from IL) in 1974. We needed to cater a function (a thank you treat) for a group of 10. We contacted their catering department & Jessica was our point-of-contact. Since we wanted to pick up from the Bellaire location…she coordinated everything. She was amazing AND the food/service was wonderful. Our group was overwhelmed - they had never had Molina’s before, but they said they will be dining there going forward. The portions were large enough that several were able to take home some. Thank Molina’s Bellaire &&& Jessica for making us the hit of the ‘party’! If you need catering - this is a great option!!
Grew up going to the older location off Buffalo speedway…so happy they were able to relocate in Bellaire. Always consistently good! When I’m not with the family I really love the separate bar area. Mario and the rest of the bar crew always take good care of you. Plus there’s always great regulars to catch up with!
Decent parking. Easy entry. Seating was quick. Service was quick and friendly with good suggestions for drink and food. Drinks were delivered fast and refills were quick. Food was delivered fast, hot and fresh. Everything was fantastic. The whole experience was awesome. Return we will.
This Mexican food restaurant was chosen as the site for our thank you dinner for the Bike Around the Bay sponsored by Lyondellbasell charity bike ride. The recipient charity is the Galveston Bay Foundation. Excellent service! Keep up the good work.
I was looking for a good, affordable Mexican restaurant when I saw this Bellaire Blvd location on Google Maps. Back in the late 1980s and early 1990s, I dined at the Molina's Cantina on SH 6.
The food here is excellent and less expensive than many other quality restaurants in the area.
The complimentary chips are served with three different dips. I ordered the chicken enchiladas topped with a tomatillo sauce. The Spanish rice is light and fluffy.
I thoroughly enjoyed the meal, and it didn't break the bank. Now that I have "rediscovered" Molina"s, I will be returning.
They served quite a huge selection of tex-mex food. We had chalupas for take out for dinner and we really like how generous they are with the veggies. The meat could also be more generous. Overall, the taste is good but prices can be better.
The food was alright, and the atmosphere was fine I guess, the real star of the show was our waiter, Gray. He was fantastic and ensured all of my wife’s boyfriend needs were not only met, but exceeded to a level I did not know possible. His kindness radiated through my heart and I could tell gray was a shining star built for the stressful and tiring industry that is Tex-Mex food services. I did not know a man could be so charming yet professional, kind yet diligent, caring yet committed. His aura single handedly illuminates the entire restaurant, bringing joy to everyone’s heart. In fact, I saw a young family all break down in tears as a result of his impeccable service. 11/10, would come here again, be sure to request Gray as your waiter.
