I've been a fan of Sylvia's for many years, have taken tons of out of town company there, and have never been disappointed. The food is always fresh and beautifully prepared. The chips are warm, as is the salsa, and they keep it coming. The enchiladas are the best anywhere, just the way I like them. Other places serve them loaded with cheese, which means all you taste is the cheese. Not Sylvia's. You can't go wrong going there. I don't understand the people who have given this gem of a restaurant bad reviews. Actually, I've come to the conclusion that an awful lot of people don't know good food. They only know loaded plates.
We have been eating at this Sylvia's location since it was first established. The food has always been consistently good. The food here is equal to the price paid. Carne asada is great along with most of their enchilada dishes. The red tortilla shop is fantastic. Most of the time service is top notch. Folks reviews on Mexican food can be very greatly depending upon taste but Sylvia's is a solid choice compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area.
Just walking in, we were greeted with big smiles and pretty decorations. We were seated promptly and presented with chips and amazing salsa. Just the right kick to it. Our waiter, Arturo, was prompt and friendly. I ordered the Harlingen, which is two HUGE beef enchiladas, while bae ordered the Texas Fish Tacos.
The food was delicious. Arturo filled our drinks up frequently and cleared the table of any extra plates promptly. Over all the whole experience was great and we will totally recommend this place to our family and friends.
This Mexican kitchen was absolutely awesome! The staff was super friendly and the food was great. My dad said the enchiladas were great, and my food was good too! We got sopa pillas for dessert and man was it good! I'm looking forward to coming here again!
We have been patrons of Sylvia's for over ten years now and she has hit another home run at the new Energy Corridor location on Eldridge. We have dined there three times now and found both the food and service to be top shelf. If you want to treat out of town guests to South Texas home style cooking this is the place.
Price but food is amazing worth the expense for great food . Just don't make the common mistake we make every time we go, we eat to much of there incredible fresh chips and salsa before our food gets to our table. We end up stuff with chips lol word of caution there extremely good.
The restaurant is clean, the food is good, great service. The three enchilada plate I got was about $15. Lunch specials looked good and were sub $10. I'd definitely go back.
Good lunch specials but can be a bit pricy for dinner. The chili gravy on the beef enchiladas is the best thing on the menu. The queso is of the usual variety and so was the taco but the enchiladas and chili gravy is where it's at!!
The food is always great, and as a bonus,
never over salted like a lot of TexMex. Customer service is always pleasant too. Definitely a top place for TexMex and Mexican fare in Houston
one of the best mexican rests you can find in Houston, I've been to a million of them. They have a typical tex mex menu with heavy emphasis and a variety of enchiladas and they are all very good. The bar is heavily stacked and has fair prices.
