Fukuya's is a tradition for our family and things are as good as I remember them from childhood. It takes a special family to keep us well fed for more than 3 decades. My favorites are the hash patties, fried ahi (belly), fried tofu, gobo, and shiso musubi.
Everything is great except parking.
There are so many regulars and new comers alike because you get that family feel and comfort of grandma's okazuya. This is what I measure all other okazuya to. Even the other popular ones. My husband grew up with the one in Waimalu or even kalihi and he converted to being addicted to Fukuyas too.
Food is grinds! Tofu salad is the best! Love the variety of musubis. Hard to not order one of everything. Is it cheap? No, but it's hand made old school okazu!
Very expensive, but good selection. It's easy to get carried away, but brace yourself when they give you the total. 2 plates and a side order of hot dog sushi came out to $40!!! The parking is extremely limited, and I often have to pass because there isn't any parking
I have been coming to this okazuya since little keiki times, and it's still the best. Musubi, Chow fun, mochiko chicken, mochi, hotdog maki, teri ahi, hash, tsukemono, and more, all the good comfort foods. Parking is limited, but opens up fairly quickly.
I am not a morning person but I wake up early to go to Fukuya to get the best selection of yumminess. Parking can be a challenge. 5 spaces? 3 people in the deli @ one time. A line is normal but well worth it. Get as.much are as little as you like but you will wish you got more!
Sooo tasty. Yes, parking is hard and there is a line. But it’s worth it! I got nori chicken, furikake ahi, spicy ahi poke, fresh mochi, and Bento A. It was all amazing!
My Togo box was $19. Lol but it was good. You just go in and pick things and it adds up. Whatever you choose it’s never the same price they have for the chosen box
Place to get some quick take out local style/Japanese food. Like a bakery full of delicious meat/noodles/musubi/stuffed Ahi/poke etc... Delicious and quick. Horrible parking situation though.
Grew up going to this place with my family. Little parking, but worth the hassle.
1) Teri meat and Hotdog Furikake rolls.
2) Vegetable or Sweet Potato Tempura.
3) Miso Butterfish
Love Fukuya! Corned beef hash was better before. If you love this kinda food, this delicatessen is a local staple.
