Chair 5 as the name suggests is a lovely wooden log cabin with logged furniture comfortable space. If you are travelling from Fairbanks to Anchorage or Fairbanks to Whittier town, Chair 5 would make for the go to comfort food and bar space.
The space was fairly empty except for occupied 2-3 covers. Cozy and delicious food served piping hot on a cold snowy winter afternoon. Unfortunately the one attending us wasn't aware of Blackened halibut since it wasn't there on the menu but surprisingly I can see it on Google reviews and dishes to recommend options!
French fries are exceptionally good, best I have ever had in my life.
Speciality halibut with potatoes and asparagus was okay, would not recommend it for a steep 40$
I ordered the Alaska wild game was top notch!!!
Grilled Halibut Tacos were bland. Wagyu Beef burger was good.
Food teamed up with the local Alaskan beer was a good decision!
This place was not our first option but we are so glad we came. Yum mussels. Sean recommended the rotation beer which was a blueberry wheat beer from Denali. Partner loved his pizza. Thank you Sean for taking care of us.
My wife and I ate at Chair 5 for our first night in Girdwood. We got the crab cakes as an appetizer, I had the fish and chips, and my wife ordered the Alaskan wild game burger. Amy was our waitress and she did a wonderful job! She recommended both things we ordered and was very quick and polite. The crab cakes had a ton of flavor, however I feel for the price you should get three instead of two. The fish and chips were very good. I am not the biggest beer battered fan, but the batter had tons of flavor and was crispy. My wife's burger was very good and was flavorful. The atmosphere was very relaxed and comfortable. Overall Chair 5 is a very good place and we would go back!
Great food that’s always fast friendly clean local service. Not many Sports bar next to a world class mountain.. definitely in a league of its own..!!
It was a rainy day but still a hanging glacier view from its windows, the view of the mountain tram of Alyaska hotel, lively atmosphere, good sea food chouder, halibut fish/french fries. It seems people enjoyed their pizza, but we as tourists had to order Alaskan sea food

I really wanted to give 5 stars, but Sean dropped the ball a few times. So, let's get into this review!
Hands down, love the atmosphere! Great vibes, awesome things to admire on the wall. Some of the stain glass was phenomenal. 1 Star Earned.
Believe it or not, having a clean restroom means a lot to me and not just to some of the folks that read my reviews. 1 Star Earned for being a bar/hangout/restaurant restroom.
Chair 5 signature items are their deep-dish pizzas. The one I tried was the Thai Chicken. Dough was spot on, cheese burnt on the sides where it meets the pan still makes my mouth water. Delicious! 1 Star Earned.
A few staff members came up and talked with me. Everyone was smiling. Yup, 1 Star Earned!
That darn Star lost was due to me getting up for a refill and then again for a togo box, and then I just decided to get up to pay when I was ready.
So listen, don't give Sean a hard time. Who knows, bad days happen. Is that going to stop me from going back, hell no. Is it going to stop me from recommending it to everyone craving a deep-dish, hell no. Go here! Eat here! Drink here! If a guy named Sean serves you, tell him he is famous and tip well!

Excellent burger. Service was great! Kitchen was singing and having a great start to their day. Highly recommend stopping by for a libation and a snack if you're hungry.
Great burgers, fast service and delicious fries. We came hungry and left satisfied.
Stopped in to just have a drink and find out about Girwood. Bartender was not happy she was there, I think she smiled twice while we were there, once when another employee was talking to her and when she saw me watch her take a big of her lunch which was in front of under the bar. My recommendation is to have your bartender friendly to everyone and dress as if she had just rolled out of bed.
Probably every other visit to Girdwood has a stop at Chair 5. If you want a good burger and/or delicious pizza while drinking a local Alaskan beer, this is the place!!
The atmosphere has great, old Alaskan pictures, maps, funny quotes and memorabilia. It’s casual and can be family friendly. They have two dining areas away from the bar area, one with large windows to enjoy lookin at the out of doors.
We always enjoy this place and for Girdwood find it to be a fair price!! If you ar win the area, you won’t be disappointed.
