Maybe not Italian pizza, not NY pizza, but probably the best American pizza I've had in Gainesville. Second best pizza I've had in Florida, and it's surely in the top five for American pizza I've had throughout my life. Their sides are also of a good quality, while a bit inconsistent in taste. I think they switch the sauce brands that they use occasionally, but I enjoy the surprise. A bit disappointing that they offer pineapple, but that's a choice I have zero right to criticize. Overall, nothing is perfect, but damn does Five Star come close. Definitely the way to go when you want pizza, wings, or pepperoni rolls.
By the way, I'm seriously recommending the Deluxe specialty pizza. That's pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions, and green peppers. All for the price of a three topping pizza! Its my second favorite after my own custom order (beef, onions, green peppers, black olives.)
Let's be honest. When a pizza place cares so little about their image that its boxes and building look like they haven't been revamped since 1988, you know it's going to be good. Think about it. Place has been rolling for more than 30 years yet it looks like this? They must know what they are doing.
And as it turns out, they DEFINITELY do. This is great food.
Five star is by far our favorite pizza place. We love the garlic knots and pepperoni rolls! The pizza crust is 🤌🤌🤌 - just the right balance of crispy and chewy. Can't get enough!
Edit - I had to come back and praise some more! No doubt, 5star is the best pizza in Gainesville!
Super happy with their service and taste. I find all the typical fast food chain pizza in America absolutely bland. I had given up hope on finding a pizza place that actually suits my tastes. Glad to say I've been proven wrong.
My kids enjoyed this pizza tonight. It was hot, fresh, and a perfect compliment to the Chicago Band at Bo Diddley's Free Friday concert!
