Being new to Florida, many people said we had to try Sonny's. I am so glad we did! We went to Sonny's in 39th. We started with the "Redneck Eggrolls". Tender pork, mixed with cheese & seasonings, in a crispy shell. Amazing! Next, I had the pulled pork platter with baked beans & cole slaw with cornbread. The pork melted in my mouth, so good it didn't need sauce. I tried all of the sauces and decided the sweet was my favorite. The beans were good, I kept trying to figure out the flavors. A bit sweet for my liking. Cole slaw is to die for! We took a pint to go! Cornbread was really good, not gritty like up north. We will definitely be back. Trying the ribs next!
I stopped in to get a quick bite to eat as it was 8:40 and I knew most places would be closing down around 9 p.m. much to my delight I was able to get seated get my food and be back in my car ready to hit the road again by 9:20. The wait staff was friendly, helpful and attentive, making sure I was able to get the items I wanted and that I was satisfied with the meal throughout. Even offering to bring my service animal water. The food was very good and portion size was more than adequate. Overall I would go back and recommend this restaurant to others.
I always enjoy eating here! Whether it is takeout or dine-in, the experience is always top notch. Recently, I went through the drive thru for a quick lunch and was greeted by the kindest, most upbeat staff! The young woman at the window made sure to ask what sauce I wanted and made sure to give me plenty! I think her name was Lolly, she definitely knew what service with a smile meant! I always look forward to coming here
Started out rough. From the minute we entered the place we noticed a rude lady pushing the hostess out of her way with her elbow and my friend looked at me and said just what I was thinking. (How rude).
Then we were seated and our server was the rude lady. I thought to myself this is not going to be a good lunch. She was new and not up with the menu. It was plain to see. After 10 minutes trying to get our order right. My friend exploded. A manager was called to us, and I must say he handled the problem well. Replaced our server and we got excellent service after that. We still love Sonny's. Good save. Peace
We randomly stopped here otw home to AL from seeing my family in FL. We didn't want typical fast food but didn't have the time to stop & sit anywhere. This place had a drive thru so we stopped here. The food was AMAZING. We got a variety because we didn't know what was good here. Well apparently everything is good here. I had The pork eggrolls. Out of this world. Great spot.
Good service. Large seating area. Ribs took a good 15 minutes to come out but were very tasty. The lunch portion is a good size, left feeling very full ! They will give you a to go huge drink of what you ordered at the table if you ask for it, great if you are on the move! Photos as of dec 2019.
Food was great, service was excellent, clean restaurant and bathrooms. Would have given it a 5 star review if they still had a salad bar!
