Best quesadilla in the metroplex! This restaurant has always been a steady bet. It's not fancy, and the fast casual setup is both confusing and annoying on a busy night, but the food makes up for it.
I like this place only for the food and the service. Maybe it was just me and my husbands lucky night but the customers there were absolutely obnoxious. Parents drinking (most likely drunk as they were yelling stupid things to each other across the table that the whole restaurant could hear) with their kids going unchecked. It's food is comparable to Los Molcajetes, just a few bucks cheaper, and me and my husband love molcajetes. Next time we choose this place to eat I think we will take it to go.
Popularity Contest. Urbanspoon ranks this #2 for most popular restaurants in North Fort Worth. I've put off visiting Don Taco several times, because each time I was in the area of the restaurant, I convinced myself that I wasn't in the mood for fast food Mexican. Well, that was my fault because this is not fast food at all. Not by a long shot. I went to their website a few days ago and noticed what an extremely large menu they have. I took a picture of the menu board that they have hanging on the wall. It's a monster, containing both breakfast and lunch/dinner items.
I waited in line for about three minutes before someone recognized me and took my order. I ordered a barbacoa burrito. Barbacoa usually is only found in the barrio areas, seldom at a modern cafe in the suburbs. The word itself is a false cognate, and while it can be used to include a type of cooking, it's Mexican roots, especially Northern Mexico and South Texas ones, specifically mean cooking parts of a cowhead, normally the cheek. I waited about ten minutes for the preparation, so that alone told me that this wasn't going to be fast food.
When the burrito was finally brought to my table, I was once again surprised. The amount of meat in the burrito was substantial with additional rice and beans. I can't tell you how much I liked their salsas, both the red and the green. The red had a little sweetness to it, not a lot, and really was good with the barbacoa. The green sauce was great as well. I definitely recommend using one or the other--or both. This came with a small side of lettuce and sour cream on the side. I didn't add it to the burrito, but just had it as a side.
I actually stood back in line again to order some sopapillas for dessert. An order consists of three medium-sized cinnamon covered disks of fried dough topped with whipped cream. They were still sizzling as they were placed on a heavy paper plate. They were puffy, gooey and lightly sweetened with powdered sugar. Oh, and they were quite delicious.
The room is decked out in different sports memorabilia of all sorts, national and local teams, and lots and lots of glass framed posters. There is a little bit of neon here and there. Three or four televisions hang from the wall with different stations along with piped in music, all competing for your attention.
Service is very friendly with lots of good-natured small talk. Don Taco is located in a up and growing area of far North Fort Worth in a strip mall with several other eateries. The place certainly was popular when I was there. I foresee it there for some time to come.
Been a few times. Food is tssty, reasonably priced, and comes out in a timely manor. We go here every time we come to town.
I love this place. They have the best Mango margarittas. They service is fast and their food is excellent.
Atmosphere can be a little high strung with all the young families, but they are there for a reason and that reason is AWESOME food at a very reasonable price. My sister in law always buys a few gallons of their menudo to take back to St Louis with her.
Good food, and try the ice cream.. I like this place, but the atmosphere is a little hectic too me-- sparse, noisy, etc. I prefer the more subdued atmosphere down the street at Martha's Cocina if I want to get my Mexican food fix on Heritage Trace.
Wonderful food fir a good price, but I can't stand the atmosphere. There are always wailing kids and sports fans, so I take my food somewhere else to eat.
Love this place!. I eat here once or twice a week and it is always great. The fajita tacos are my favorite. Breakfast burritos are also amazing. Everyone that works there is always friendly. They have a patio as well which is nice to sit on with a cold beer and some great food. One of my favorite places to eat.

We eat here all the time and the whole family loves it. Food is great, priced right, and served quick. Always busy so be prepared for a full house.
They have a good selection of Mexican food. Was not disappointed the food is cooked fresh. Nothing was cold that we got. Everything was tasty and very well done. Does take time for the food to be made since it's fresh, but the wait is well worth it. They haven't disappointed me at this time. Been a few times. Basic dining area. Cabinet service. Prices are very good.
I absolutely love this hidden gem. I believe that they have the best Mexican food around, especially the green salsa .It is authentic and service is always above and beyond. Workers are walking around asking how things are and they strive to keep the place clean.
It was clean. The food was delicious. The service was fast and friendly. They even had an outdoor area to sit. They had great music too. We will definitely be back!
Love this place ! The workers are the nicest people ! The food is better than some of the bigger Mexican restaurants I’ve been to ! Love love the shredded chicken, my personal fav ! Love the queso!
Fast, friendly service. The food was a bit rushed, and the bacon was quite salty. Overall, it was good, and we will be back again.
The best Mexican food in the area. It's a small place, fast food style - you order and wait to be called to pick up your food. The food ingredients are fresh, and the quality is better compared to even more expensive restaurants. Highly recommend.
Food was good, but bacon was extremely salty...more than normal. Maybe due to cheaper bacon?
I would go back and try different item in the menu, sans bacon.
Aaaaah family favorite right here ! This spot is a classic for Mexican food, and I love getting the chance to come here :) this is my favorite spot to swing by and indulge in some enchiladas!
Came here for dinner with my family. We all had different types of quesadillas meals that came with rice and beans. Overall, we were very pleased with the service we received today. Our sons meal was a regular quesadilla with no meat. At first we received the wrong order and when we went to go let them know. So what surprised us is that we were apologized to by the staff for the mix up. Then we were told to keep the wrong order and then when the order was corrected, instead of only getting the quesadilla that was wrong we actually got a whole new order of rice and beans with the quesadilla! The whole staff was extremely nice and apologetic. The restaurant was very clean, from where we could go to order. To also where we could go sit at the table to eat and lastly the restrooms were clean as well. For this being a first time experience, this is somewhere I would love to come back to. It was so nice trying somewhere new and it also had such a great taste!
The food was pretty good. The brisket taco I had was kinda greasy but still good. The rest if my meal was really good. The tamale was delicious! I'd come back and try something else. It was definitely well priced
