I have to say, this is the best most consistent Cuban food I've had in South Florida, period. I'm super critical when I go out to eat and time after time I can't find a single thing to complain about. The portions are perfect. The prices are reasonable. The flavors are rich and complex. And the service is just unbelievable. I've never seen a restaurant owner so involved in the customer experience in all my years of eating out. Mario and his staff make you feel like a VIP no matter what. If you're in the area, give it a try and I promise you will love it. 10/10
First time in Fort Lauderdale, and stumbled upon this gem! If you're only visiting or local this is a must visit. Perfect for date night, celebration or just casual dining.
Absolutely wonderful. The service was amazing from the second we stepped in the door.
The food was superb! I have never had plantain chips with salsa but it my new favorite. Next, my wife and I shared the Yuka stick appetizer, then she ordered Mario's combo while I had Mario's favorite.
Everything was full of flavor and delicious.
Of course after we couldn't possibly eat any more we also couldn't resist the cuatro leche for dessert and coffee. Will definitely come back again very soon!
Wow!! This place is amazing. I have driven by this place for 2 years, thinking they serve Cuban sandwiches. This place is exactly the opposite. Upscale style dining with great service. The servers all work in unison and ensure you are completely taken care of. They speak both English and Spanish, unlike many Latin restaurants. Love the service. If you want to feel wined and dined, this place will do so.
Now the best part is that the food is spectacular. I mean, wow, everything compliments each other. Good portions, beautiful presentations, and desserts.

Wow - exquisite upscale Cuban dining experience. Once you walk in, the ambiance is classy, yet very friendly - my wife received a hug from the staff and a kiss on both cheeks from Mario. The food is really impressive, we started with the octopus and it was sautéed in an onion/garlic sauce. The octopus was very tender and this was one of those dishes that you wanted more bread to sop up every bit of the sauce because it was that delicious. We went with the Paella for 2 special entree - OMG, this could have easily fed 4 people and it was delicious. All the seafood (mussels, shrimp, fish, scallops) and chicken were well seasoned and tasted really fresh. The rice was full of saffron and butter - I couldn't stop eating it was really, really great. Stuffed as we were after the paella, we opted for the flan and it was as excellent: rich, creamy, dense - served on bed of a rum sauce with a little whipped cream - great end to an memorable meal. The service at Mario's is very attentive, they're frequently refilling water glasses, checking to see if you need anything, carrying away empty plates, discussing the food, etc. If you're looking for a place for a special meal, check out Mario's - it's very special
Update 10/08/2023 - we visited with family today and again - this place does not disappoint!! We came for lunch today. I had skirt steak. Hubby had a red snapper. Both were great. Mimosas was pretty good. Thank you, Mario & and Chino, for the greatest services and food!!
05/2023 - I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! We visit here whenever we are in South Florida. Nothing beats the service this team delivers. Hubby had the skirt steak, and I had Lechon Asado. I enjoy the white sangria as well. We were able to purchase gift cards for our next visit with family. The atmosphere is perfect, and the owner is highly attentive. Again, the level of service you receive here is above and beyond all others. Thank you, Mario, for a wonderful evening... every time we visited for dinner.
Food is delicious. Service is amazing! They’re super attentive, both the server and the owner came several times to check if we were doing fine.
We were offered extra rice with our food and even got free desert on the house! Generous portions. We are picky when it comes to food, yet we were very pleased with our experience! The bathrooms don’t use disposable paper towels but fabric napkins, which helps the environment with less waste.
100% recommend. Don’t hesitate!
Highly recommend that you visit this fine establishment if the opportunity ever presents itself. I don’t need to talk about the food as the quality and taste will speak for itself, some of the best Cuban food I have ever had in my life. Authentic taste, ingredients and very generous portions.
What I do want to mention is the service.
Mario has built a reputation for himself in the community as someone who goes above and beyond to provide a level of service that leaves strangers feeling like they have known Mario for a lifetime. Mario did not disappoint.
Judging from the articles on the wall dating back to the early 2000’s, this aspect of service has not changed nor faltered in the last two decades. I highly recommend you stop by here even if only for a drink and conversation with Mario!
I must apologize. The food was so good, I had to go to the truck to get my phone in a rain storm. I had already eaten the empanadas and octopus. The other food had a good presentation, but I dug in too quickly. The service people worked as a team, and they all made you feel welcomed and like an old friend. The owner is very involved and generous. We enjoyed our meal, and I plan to return. I highly recommend you coming here.
Amazing atmosphere and food!
The food was great, we got one of their pork dishes and it was amazing, definitely something to eat again and again.
Their rice and beans was full of flavour and it complemented the pork just right.
Desserts looked also delicious, what I looked the most about is that is was not so sweet as they are in other places.😋
The atmosphere is great, very romantic and with a very cool classic touch.
The owner can be a bit intense, he came in an remove or plate without asking us first if he could remove, didn't apologize I hard to pretty much stop him from taking mine though he took my wife's, staff apologized many times for what has occurred (not idk downs behalf though). 😑
Parking can be difficult when the restaurant is busy.
Maybe I'll go back just because the staff is very polite and nice, not because of the owner for sure.
