Coffee shop & custom kayak making? Might be the coolest place in Humboldt.

Beautiful place to stop in to get some coffee, steal some wifi, and chat with some lovely locals. Might I add if you're into chess, it's heaven for you. The tables have a checker/chessboard pattern on the top of it, and before I forget to mention: they stream MOVIES at night sometimes. The staff are all family and friends of the owner who is a sweet man, and they provide service beyond excellent. I even drive an extra few miles to ferndale just to get coffee there before school sometimes. I love it that much. Long live Mind's Eye!

Nice coffee shop, very cool art, and the kayak building workshop. Very cool exhibits to see, and indoor and outdoor seating. Cappuccino was great, maple pecan donut not quite what I expected. Great place to visit for coffee.

We had two unexpected pleasures while visiting beautiful Ferndale, CA today. One was on Main Street at Mind’s Eye Manufactory & Coffee Lounge. The drinks and goodies are great, as is the friendly and helpful barista. That’s just the beginning of what might draw you in. The owner (also owns the entire building) has been traveling to Alaska for years learning all about native Alaskan boat building including discovering parts of a type of boat that predated current native knowledge. He recently finished building one of these which look similar to but predate Umiaks. I didn’t get to meet him as he is currently up north working with locals to share his knowledge and help them build one to reintroduce this cultural heritage. Great food and drinks, and a glimpse into a craftsman’s world… Pretty cool stuff!

Absolutely adored this place. Just walking in it feels homey, unique and comfortable. Loved the decor. You can tell they take great care in their drinks, foods and customers. Highly recommend! And make sure to use the bathroom and check out the fishy in the porthole!

This spot is pure magic but not a show off about it. From the staff, all artists who fill the lounge with personal art, to the huge tiny surprise in the bathroom. There will never be another one. (I gave food four stars simply because I haven't eaten there and don't know how to answer other than that.)

This is the only place I've had a decent coffee in the US so far - great cappuccino served in a proper cup (also a bit of a novelty so far!) in an interesting coffee shop with a canoe manufacturing workshop at the back - definitely recommend...and thank you! 😁👍

Lovely cozy-feeling coffeeshop with great and lovely employees. The entire place looks like a museum where you can buy the artefacts. Coffee was great and the hot chocolate is amazing. Personal tip: add caramel syrup, makes it even better!

The ONLY coffee shop in town and it’s excellent. The cat, Luna, is totally chill and falls asleep on your lap in front of the fireplace. Smooth coffee and great selection of tea. Staff is super cool and groovy. Pour overs, espresso, excellent coffee.

An amazing place. The matcha latte was one of the best I ever had. (It was too late in the day for coffee) The place itself is worth coming to Ferndale. It is former bar and arts gallery tastefully restored exposing some original detailing that had been hidden under layers of plaster while the added fireplace. and the wall seem to have been born with the house. This is not just a coffee shop - they make amazing kayaks (baidarkas) based on traditional Aleut design using the best of traditional and modern tech. These boats are just pieces of art on their own. Lia, the owner makes serves coffee and is extremely pleasant and interesting to talk to.

An incredibly curated coffee shop & a perfect meeting place for creatives and community. Mind's Eye Manufactory not only serve delicious coffee, home made treats & great conversation, but they also facilitate woodworking classes and community events as well. This is the perfect destination in one of California's most picturesque towns!
