My first time at “Reds” was probably 35 years ago. My dad and I have been coming here for lunch since I was old enough to eat, and for drinks since I was old enough to drink! Reds is an extension of home, and you will feel it the second you walk in the door. Their recent remodel and menu update have elevated Poor Reds to a legitimate dining destination. We had fantastic Bloody Marys (a Wednesday morning special), baked potato skins, pulled pork sliders, the buffalo fries, and of course: the Golden Cadillac. Everything was absolutely fantastic.
Ive driven by the place for work several times the last couple years and always seemed busy and hopping. I drove up with my wife for a date night and found out why- great food and great service! Every employee was friendly and both meals were delicious. I want to go back when these “limitations” are over and enjoy the whole vide and ambiance!
Literally the best pulled pork sandwich you will ever have is served here. This is such a fun, outdoor dining BBQ spot, they offer indoor as well, but the outdoor atmosphere with their open outdoor bar just makes it a really fun place, especially on the weekends when the weather is nice. I drive an hour to get here and I do it often because the food is so amazing. Definitely a must when you're out on a bike ride.
It's all about the Cadillacs! The buffalo wings and garlic fries was a good place to start, followed by a full rack of ribs and finish strong with the carrot cake. We brought our own bottle of wine, minimal corking fee. Friendly servers. This place is a "must visit" if you're in the El Dorado/Placervillev area.
This place is great. Definitely be back for the New York and grits plus the gold Cadillac. Friendly and great service. Bathrooms are clean! Enjoyed everything about it!
My wife Kelly and I went to Poor Reds for the first time on our Harley. We asked to be seated by the bar at one of the high tables and were accommodated by a hostess.
We met the bartender Jessica, and she took our drink orders and was extremely polite and helpful.
My wife ordered a Gold Cadillac and when it was delivered we were surprised with 2 extra servings of that drink.
Food was excellent, prices were very reasonable and all the working staff was very polite and helpful. We took a tour of the inside and were very impressed with nostalgia still on the inside walls.
I would recommend Poor Reds BBQ to all my friends and family.

I ate at Poor Red's in 1981, while on a course at Mather Air Force Base, and was very impressed. After hearing about it many times, my son, who was not born then, insisted that I take him to try it out. We live in Canada! We went, and had a great meal and a great time. The staff was surprised to find out about my return trip 36 years later. I'll go again when I can.
