Love it there good atmosphere, not a loud bar at all, the only thing I wish they had was a pool table

Gott im Himmel! This was so necessary today. Absolutely wonderful. My wife and I split a Kassler Ribchen. Soup was potato and cabbage. Side of red cabbage and a mouthful of Kassler and homemade Spätzle noodles made me think I was in Germany. Chocholate Bavarian cream cake with a cup of coffee to round off the meal. Taste that cream in the homemade frosting. Joe the owner is very friendly. Great atmosphere! Umpah music in the background and Bit bier made this 30 year running Bier Stube a place I will plan to come back to... with my lederhosen on!

Seriously, the best German food in Iowa. Until we ate here we wondered why the best German food in Iowa was in our kitchen; now it is in Dubuque and we don't have to cook! Don't be put off by the outward appearance. Beauty is on the inside.
