We will be back! I’m sad it took us so long to stop in, but glad to have another go to.
We just had the most wonderful experience at Hillside Tavern. The food was phenomenal and the atmosphere was chill enough that we were able to bring our 11-year-old niece to eat with us. The service was top notch. Chad and his team are doing an incredible job and we’ll be back very soon to try out the rest of that awesome menu!
My family enjoyed our recent experience at Hillside Tavern. They serve pretty standard bar food options with limited options for vegans/vegetarians. You seat yourself which can get hectic when the place gets busy. Overall, the service met expectations and the food tasted good. I view Hillside Tavern as a great place to grab apps/drinks rather than a full meal but, we will go back!
Originally we wanted to order the steak and they were out by 8pm, which isn’t a huge deal as we were mostly there for drinks.
Decided to try the Katsu Chicken Wing special, it was mid at best. The fries were a bit over seasoned and the flavors were just a little off. Lots of garnishes, not enough flavor.
Waitress was fast and nice and for that I’ll go with 4 star over a 3 star review.
Came by Sunday evening and our bartender Justin recommended espresso martinis, they were amazing! ☕️ He did very well! Our food was quick and seasoned well! Very nice!
Sitting here enjoying my Old Fashioned and bowl of French Fries watching the world go by on an amazing patio. I couldn't ask for any other way to end my long day of work and some stress, but at Hillside. Came here after passing it for a while on the way to work in Garland. So glad I stopped as from the door to the table to the bar everyone is so nice and boasts a relaxing atmosphere. With blues playing it is so easy to sip and enjoy everything they have to offer.
Unfortunately it was a miss for me with the fried bologna sandwich, but the patty melt they brought instead was so amazing! It came on Texas Toast and was stuffed with tons of peppers and onions. Oh so melty, gooey, and good!
And my waiter was so nice and kind about everything especially since I was so indecisive in the beginning about my food and drink orders.
I definitely would come back for the chill atmosphere and food. Especially the fries that are house made and seasoned with heavenly sprinkles!!
Great spot overall. The cheese fries and patty melt are highlights. The patty melt is piquant, fatty but not overwhelmingly so. Their Collins does admirable work in concert, cutting through the richness. By itself the Collins is a little too herbaceous and I think would be better with gin instead of vodka.
The cheese fries deserve their own write up and are what you would expect but with sausage and gravy on top. Complete hedonism.
Only complaints are that the space is a little dark and that the Aperol Spritz is really half an Aperol Spritz (it should fill the glass).
Definitely a great new addition to Dallas.
This place has great food, good drinks, nice bar... friendly staff. The people that live close by really have a great neighborhood bar and grill!
I absolutely loved my first meal at Hillside Tavern. My double cheeseburger was great but my waitress' beer knowledge took the cake for me. I sold craft beer out of my shop for 6 years and Stephanie taught me a good deal about English Style IPAs. I was very impressed and will be back to try more of their well rounded menu!
Service was great food was amazing drinks were so thoughtfully created really enjoyed this place
