We had brunch on Saturday, there will was four of us and we all had something different. Started out with calamari which is excellent! Victor made me poached eggs on pork tenderloin medallions, perfect! It’s quaint, excellent service and food, I highly recommend!
Victor and his team are amazing. What a neighborhood gem! Great food, great wine list, great staff and atmosphere! Wish we lived close — we’d be weekly regulars - heck, we happily make the drive to VH from Southlake - worth! Thank you Victor!
VH was our second option as Jonathon's had over an hour wait. Our first time was pleasant but not outstanding. The interior blew my girlfriend and I away, opulent. The service however left a lot to be desired. Our waiter was not personable nor did he discuss/recommend any menu items, which being a foodie and my first time I rely on the "insider scoop". We went rogue. My girlfriend ordered the French Toast, which for $13 was a (pardon my bluntness) joke. One piece of bread, no sides, just your one piece of bread. I was luckier, I ordered the Carnitas Hash and loved it! Perfect brunch portion size, the sunny-side-up egg and all it's running-yolk glory really did me in! This dish was also $13 and an example of proper value. We enjoyed the mimosas and bloody mary's and for that reason, along with the ambiance, we will return eventually.

VH has a lot to live up to with a packed Jonathon's right next door. Came for brunch and was pleasantly surprised. I had the hash which was good, needed more hash though. My mom had the granola & blueberry pancakes which were quite delicious. I'll be back for that alone. Didn't get a chance to try the mimosas but $15 for a pitcher is a good deal. If you don't want the 45 minute wait at Jonathon's you won't be disappointed here.
I went here for a friend's birthday dinner last weekend and had a great time! We received excellent service from the moment we walked in the door. Even Victor, the owner, was very friendly and engaging during our meal and the chef checked in with us twice. First to offer recommendations and again later to make sure we were pleased with our meal. We started with the crispy calamari fries, sweet potato Johnny cakes and grilled chorizo, all of which were great and split the strozzapreti pasta and lobster risotto special for dinner. We topped it off with espresso martinis and a complimentary piece of cake for the birthday girl. Definitely a great night filled with good food!
A Surprise and Delight!. Wow. What a surprise and delight VH is! Met my dad there for a quick lunch during the workday. It was my first time in VH. That location has been many different things. However, I think VH will be a keeper. We were warmly greeted when we came in, both by our server and by Victor Hugo (VH) himself, tending bar. The place has been decorated very tastefully. Whoever decided on the wrought iron accents, wingback chairs, and stressed dark wood obviously knew what they were doing. VH has an elegance that will appeal to some, yet a classic rusticity that will appeal to others. The bar was fully stocked, and I was personally *very* pleased to see they have Guinness on nitro tap! Might be one of the only places this side of the Trinity to offer that. Dad and I started with the Green Chili Hummus that came out with a side of crostinis and sliced cucumber. The taste of the hummus was fine, but I found the consistency closer to babaganoush than the consistent viscosity of hummus to which I'm accustomed. We ordered the Blackened Bird chicken sandwich and the Grilled Mahi Mahi tacos, both of which were delicious. Typically the chicken sandwich comes with fries, but the server offered to replace it with a bed of mixed greens, fresh shaved parmesan, and a lemon basil vinaigrette. With two waters and tip, the total was $36, a reasonable amount for a casual bar and grill lunch. As we were leaving, VH thanked us for stopping by and invited us "to stop back by anytime." We will...and next time bring a friend or two!
Stop in and meet Victor!!!! Great neighborhood place in the cliff!!!! You need to come see them!!!
Amazing. Went here because Urbanspoon had this place rated at 100%...
Was not disappointed with our meal. My wife had a turkey melt with a pumpkin and crab soup, both were fantastic, soup was incredibly rich and flavorful. I had the chicken salad. Everything tasted really fresh, with not overly complicated flavors. Staff was incredible, very knowledgable of the menu and very friendly.
We had lunch and will for sure be coming back for dinner. Great service, great food, and the ambience is wonderful as well.
The food and service was excellent. It was our first time there and everyone was friendly and attentive. The drinks were good, and they even brought us out a birthday shot without us even having to say anything! Now that is service! The food is a very interesting mix of upscale Mexican and American fine dining in a comfortable living room environment.
They treat you like family here. The food was delicious. The staff was super friendly and I’ll be back. This place just has a great vibe. Yeah the food was great, but the people make me want to come back.
always a good time and great atmosphere and one of my go-tos whenever in Dallas. the energy here is unmatched.. just go see. try the calamari while you're there and after you do and you're feeling great about life, do something nice for someone😉👍🏾
We stopped in for lunch with a family of five. The waitress, Tory and Victor were so welcoming and accommodating. They payed attention to detail and even brought my 11 month old crackers to keep him happy while the food was bring prepared.
The food was delicious! I highly recommend for the friendly atmosphere, food, and staff! Definitely 5 stars!
Always the best place on Sundays for mimosas & Brunch. The staff is awesome & personal. The patio is perfect mingling, meet & greet
Amazing restaurant with superb cuisine! Do not miss this Dallas landmark. Great wine and drink selection with a very diverse selection of food. I had dinner recently and Victor treated me like family and made me feel like I was dining in the halls of Kings! Keep up the great work!!!
The staff is super friendly and accommodating, like service is supposed to be. The food was amazing and original, not the boring usual fare you find most places. I met friends for brunch and had Brie's Poison CFC...my only complaint is that there wasn't more of the super addictive white cheddar grits. You can tell the owner really cares about good food and good service. Definitely a place you should put on your list if you haven't tried it yet!
Stumbled upon this place and so god we did. Had a great time with the owner and staff. Food was awesome, cocktails were perfect. Everything was reasonably priced. Can’t wait to go back to dinner for their various specials and we already made a res for brunch next weekend with our guests.
Support this owner and his crew! You will not be disappointed.
This place is amazing. They have, without a doubt the best mimosas I’ve found in Dallas so far, and the quality and taste of the food is fantastic. The restaurant itself is small but has an overall cozy feel. The staff is very friendly and attentive.
I definitely recommend giving this place a try if you haven’t already.
We originally planned to go to Jonathan but they were packed. We saw it next door and decided to check it out. The guy who sat us was so nice, we later found out he was the owner. We went for brunch. I got the Turkey avocado melt it was so filling and the Turkey was cooked just right. My girlfriend got the Angry Birds, a must have, and she also got the coconut cream pie. We also got the mimosas pitcher. It was so good. The service was great, the atmosphere was great, and the food was great. Go check this joint out.
