My husband and I have been to the Shack a few times now for craft beer....each time has been great! As craft beer lovers and new to the area we have found that this burger joint has one of the best selections of craft beer! Travis has provided us with excellent service each time, he is very welcoming, extremely customer oriented and knows his craft beer!! He is eager to educate on their current beer offerings and recommend different beer styles ... we have been totally satisfied each and every time! I highly recommend checking this place out! Cheers!
I’ve had a bad experience here before as far as my order being completely lost and being lied to repeatedly when asked about it. However.... they comped the entire meal and we still continue to return because there just aren’t burgers like this anywhere near. I mean seriously. Whoever decided to put bananas on a burger is just pure genius. I’m also not personally crazy about any of the sides.... but the burger on its own is more than enough. The play area is great for the kids, and the fun little margaritas with party favors are a winner. Bottom line don’t let a one time bad experience deter you. The food is worth it!
We have now been to both locations. We tend to like this one better. Outside is not as good, but we tend to get our amazing food twice as fast. If your willing to spend $15 for burger and fries, we don't know of another place.
Oh my goodness...SO good...and what a fun place! My son had the Hannabanana (tastebud explosion), I had the Holy Guac, and my husband had the Cooter Jack - we enjoyed them all! Good fries as well, and probably some of the best onion rings I've had in my life! (Diet, what diet?)
We were there Saturday night (1/27) and they had a live band playing some good classic tunes. Just perfect for the atmosphere. It was really an enjoyable experience.
The weather wasn't great, so we didn't get to enjoy the outside, but they have a great outdoor area as well.
We've been to this location before when it was under another name. We saw the other location on Texas Bucket List, and thought it was worth a trip back. That one is temporarily closed, but so glad we came back to this one!!
Love both locations! Love their burgers, beer selection, dessert and decor. Digging the chill vibes! Highly recommend to everyone!
Mother's Day at The Shack
A few months ago we accidentally stopped into this location as we weren't aware of the location on Cypress Rosehill Rd. So we basically walked in, sat down, got a call from our friends and realized we were at the wrong place and left.
In the 5 minutes we spent there the impression I got was it was a cozy spot with a relaxed vibe. I noticed a table of board games near the entrance which sent a message that this place didn't mind if you came to hang out for the day.
We ended up at the other location and had a great time and some fantastic food, so when Mother's Day came around, my lovely wife suggested we try the location closer to us.
Compared to the original location, the outdoor seating area is smaller as is the kids play area (which is still pretty stinking good-swings, tires, old bus, sand) but it has a nice indoor setup which I did not see at all at the original location. I imagine the big fans inside would be nice once the Houston summer is fully upon us.
The menu is the same and the food was just as delicious! The tap menu (draft and cider) was roughly half the size of the Rosehill location but still more than most places I've been with lots of variety. Just like the original place, the ordering is walk up but unlike the other Shack where they bring your food around to you, you pick up back at the counter you ordered from so keep your ears open for your order name (we had George Strait). Also the food was ready super fast. We were eating within 15 minutes! Had the Slow Rock Fries again (brisket and cheese on fries?! uhhh, yes please!!) and the Bad Decision burger (2 grilled cheese sandwiches instead of a bun! AWESOME)
We sat outside where we could keep an eye on our little ones while they played and occasionally ran to the table to grab a bite of food. Paper towel on every table makes cleaning sticky fingers and faces nice and easy.
I love both places and will definitely go back whenever I'm craving the best burger in Houston!
Burger was tasty and a good size and the pretzel bun was delicious, the meat had a little too much pepper for me though. The fried pickles were amazing. Also there was no lemon to put in my water. The country atmosphere was enjoyable
Had a birthday party here! Had a totally great time with friends and family. Definitely has a feel of the shack but this one has more of a barn feel which I like a lot! If you're looking for a great family place for dinner definitely recommend this place!
A decent beer selection and some of the best hamburgers around. If you like bacon and garlic then the last kiss fries are a must!
Do yourself a favor and come try one of these delicious burgers! And don't forget to check out their awesome beer selection, too.
